It looks like the 2.5% represents an estimated population mortality rate from "Spanish flu".

That's what I am thinking Stanford is using. But if you were to have gotten the disease your chances of dying were greater than 10%. Perhaps as high as 20% if the 100 million estimate is accurate.

Inside Cremona ICU

Definitely does not look third world there. They have nicer stuff and better PPE than here

This may have already been posted and I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate but I just received a text that Touro ICU is intubating people in thier 30's. Stated that "entire ICU has become infected"
This is not true but they do have a whole floor quarantined with double digit Covid patients, many of which are critical.

Yikes. Still, have to consider this a win since it’s not going up by the 100’s

Eh.

A LOT of these discussions are losing a lot of data by lazy comparisons.

For example, it’s not in the slightest bit relevant that they tested 1 out of 200 of their overall population because there there is no indication it spread into their overall population.

An entirely different picture is painted if you say they tested 1 out of 200 overall, but a sizable percentage in a concentrated area.

Which they did. Actively. They did not wait for symptomatic patients to come to them.

It’s not a coincidence that many overall population CFRs are trending around .9%

Can anyone explain how an immunosuppressive drug helps fight a virus? It's counterintuitive as I think about it....

It alters pH inside of the cell which impedes both infection and expelling vesicles containing generated virons.

Also impedes some post translational processing of glycoproteins, which in turn reduces infectivity.

Might need to do a few more of these and we can tackle climate change:

Looks like the number of new cases each day isn’t increasing exponentially.

Looking at this, like in other states, there has to be something to the theory about kids being asymptotic or very mild symptoms. Zero out of nearly 200 cases.

Looks like three technical operations employees tested positive and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association asked the FAA to close the tower for disinfection of the tower and testing of the workers.

Wouldn't that depend on testing capacity?

I appreciate that explanation, Volvagia. It May have been a dumb question, but it almost sounds like this is not something a healthy person wants to take without a diagnosis and symptoms.

I guess the big jumps will be 5 days from yesterday/today when the results from the 200 tests given at BR Mid City yesterday and today and every other location around the state are received.
