Do not go to the PetSmart in elmwood, 3 employees tested positive for it.
Glad I ordered our dog food from Chewy. Time for the dogs to go on a little diet to extend it a bit more.

Hearing some really bad news about school closures. Don’t even want to repeat it yet although the source was bonafide and certain. I just want it to be wrong.
What could be that bad about school closures?

The below from a physician in Idaho. Don’t expect any relevant testing info from them. It’s a private physician group so I can’t give a link. I haven’t bullshitted you yet.
“Idaho state lab no longer accepting tests unless patient is in the unit, intubated.”

What's the rational for that?
eta Tigerskin where are you located if you can tell me? You're an MD, right?

also saying that any work they assign remotely has to technically be optional, because it could start a fuss if someone without internet access, the proper hardware/software, etc. couldn't complete the work and got failed for it.

Yes. Louisiana. Not saying more than that. Have to keep some anonymity here...haha

Gotcha .. sorry! I just really want this whole thing over and done and never return. If I didn't have 3 kids (although the youngest is 19) I might consider being a volunteer for the vaccine -- could be a cool thing to be part of "history". As long as I didn't die of course.

Hearing a good possibility that schools are done for the 2019-20 school year. Was talking to an Orleans Parish teacher today and she told me this. I didn’t believe her so I called my sister who teaches at a public school in St Tammany and she told me the same. Didn’t believe her so I texted my other sister who is also a teacher in St Tammany and she confirmed. Wife also has spoken to a few teachers who are saying the same.
Why is this unbelievable? If colleges will do it, public schools will, too. Obviously it will be significantly impactful for working parents, but they figure most of us are going to get shot to shite anyway with closures and curfews, etc.....

I think the biggest difference in testing criteria has to do with the lab actually running the tests. The state labs seem to have pretty limited supplies since their test kits come from the CDC. Hospital groups and private providers that have developed their own test seem to be more generous with the testing, at least here in Ohio. Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals both have their own in house testing and have been running a lot of tests. If you look at the state map, most of the positives have come from the part of the state where those hospital systems are located (northeast).
I believe in West Virginia where there have been no positive tests, the state lab is the only one running tests and they say they only have 500 to give, total, so they are being more selective.

Is there an updated map available of testing locations?

I guess no early chloroquine therapy for those folks.

IDK .. wouldn't it help with even the very sick, serious patients? I guess I just assumed it would.

Results: When the infection rate of the close contacts and the sensitivity and specificity of reported results were taken as the point estimates, the positive predictive value of the active screening was only 19.67%, in contrast, the false-positive rate of positive results was 80.33%. The multivariate-probabilistic sensitivity analysis results supported the base-case findings, with a 75% probability for the false-positive rate of positive results over 47%. Conclusions: In the close contacts of COVID-19 patients, nearly half or even more of the 'asymptomatic infected individuals' reported in the active nucleic acid test screening might be false positives.

So our tests are mostly worthless?

This won't be of any help if no one can get it. Currently, it looks like people are having to pull teeth to get tested. The doctor my wife works for went to do dialysis on a patient in isolation yesterday. Found out that when she went to the ER with a new cough, they sent her away because she didn't have a fever. Told her to self-isolate for two weeks. Did I mention that shes a dialysis patient?
Geez....

Maybe so, but that's not "early chloroquine therapy". If the drug actually does knock down the virus load to the point that your immune system can handle it, I personally would rather get it before they needed to paralyze me and ram a tube down my throat.

So I can’t tell if that’s good news or bad news!
