Just got back from grocery store. People here preparing for the pandemic by stocking up on perishable items like milk and eggs.

That’s good. I was told more was the table. Destroya chose otherwise I guess.

It’s just a matter of time. Unless the heat and humidity is playing a big role and reducing the transmission rates here. But if the numbers keep rising things will be shut down by Wednesday.
Italy did the “stay open but enough space in between tables thing” and it lasted two days. The waiters kept giving it to customers and Vice versa. We’ll see

Seeing as we finally just started to actually test people the numbers will certainly go up. But it has nothing to do with transmission rates.

Nashville just shut down. Bars closed, restaurants half capacity.
As a Davidson County resident, this feels like a bad idea... service industry is huge here, and metro is already in a budget crunch... this could cripple local economy.

Which would be awful since Nashville is arguably the hottest real estate market in the country. They’ve had so much momentum the past couple years.

We're supposed to be leaving on Thursday for a Bachelor party in Nashville. We're talking about trying to move it to Destin or something now. No point going to Nashville if everything is closed.

Mayor Cooper has shown himself to be a real bozo when it comes to decision making... If this is just a week or two, we’re probably fine... id this stretches out indefinitely, we’re going to be hurting.

Italian old people are getting smoked.

That makes me feel a little bit better, but damn the elderly are getting wiped.

Some differences between the US and Italy.
Healthcare:
US has 3x the critical care beds per capita.
Population density:
Italy has 5x
Mass transit uasge:
No good stats, but at bare minimum Italy has 5x usage
Cultural:
Fewer nursing homes. Meaning elderly relatives live and intermingle with more younger relatives.
More touchy, feely. Even mild acquaintances greet each other with hugs and kisses on the cheeks (RIP South Louisiana?)
ETA: Elderly population:
US population is 15% over 65. Italy is 23% over 65.

Half of Northside Forsyth's ER rooms are patients with potential coronavirus although luckily no confirmed cases yet

Hospital beds in US lowest per capita
