re: Internet options at a camp? - nolatiger711
Thanks for the link to the post. Yes, the eBay link is dead, but the rest explains how you don’t really need it anymore. That looks like a great solution. To summarize the other thread: 1. Buy new SIM card 2. Use IMEI generator for LTE iPad on ATT activation page (in other thread). It may take...

Internet options at a camp? - nolatiger711
We have a fishing camp with satellite TV and decent cell reception. Only accessible by boat, so no cabled internet options. We usually just use our phones at hotspots. However, we have started renting it out and missed out already on 2 rentals worth $2,000+ because we didn’t have internet. What ...

re: Vandy has 25 scholarship players...they are able to give out need-based scholarships. - nolatiger711
Yes, LSU has TOPS for in state players. However the big hit when scholarships went to 11.7 is the 0.25 minimum for a player. LSU used to give out a ton of 0.10’s and such to instate players to make TOPS sweeter. That would leave a lot left for out of state players. ...

re: My Uber driver stopped for gas. How should I rate the trip? - nolatiger711
How far was your ride? If less than 5 miles, then he was low enough that he should have grabbed gas beforehand. A lot of rides are less than 5 miles, so you can usually guess you have enough gas until a natural lull and don’t need to miss a ride. I once drove someone to BR from MSY. I had...

re: Director's Cup - Almost Final Update - Only Baseball left to add - nolatiger711
If the points for baseball are correct, LSU should jump Kentucky, Ohio State, and Penn State to finish 11th overall and 2nd in SEC. If we had won our Super Regional, we would have also jumped UNC and had a good shot at Duke based on CWS performance....

I was thinking that, too. Most boomers are just in their first bit of collecting. No way of predicting the average lifespan 20 years from now and when they stop collecting. ...

re: SEC teams in top 16 - nolatiger711
Why not the top 9 or the top 14 or some other willy number?
I wanted to be consistent across all three sports, and basketball and baseball have clear top 16. I wanted to include as many programs as I could in the rankings, so I just used it across the board. If I went with top 8 ...

re: SEC teams in top 16 - nolatiger711
How about SEC Teams in the Top 5?
Didn't want to go to that point yet with baseball still going. Only 3 schools in one sport each, so I don't think it shows a good overview of the SEC as a whole. But here it is: Alabama (football) Auburn (basketball) Baseball (pending) ...

SEC teams in top 16 - nolatiger711
There are 125 D-1 football schools, 351 D-1 basketball schools, and 299 D-1 baseball schools. Football has less than half the number of teams to compete against compared to the other two sports. Below are the teams that finished in the top 16 of each of the big three sports. One Sport...

JPSO let a package thief escape - nolatiger711
I was moving my car when a guy rode by with a large Amazon package in the basket of his women’s light blue bike. I didn’t recognize him either. (Less than a dozen houses have been put up for sale since I moved in 5 years ago.) I drove around the block slowly and now his backpack was full and there w...

Should Metairie become a city? - nolatiger711
All the discussion about St. George makes me wonder if Metairie should incorporate like St. George. I don't really have any major pros or cons about it. I was just wondering if someone has an opinion. I live in Metairie and feel like my taxes are well spent. My kids go to a great public elemen...

re: Teacher diagnosed with breast cancer told to pay for substitute while on medical leave - nolatiger711
There was a Catholic high school for girls in New Orleans that required the teacher that took maternity leave to pay the sub whatever the school decided to offer the sub. The school encouraged teachers to only have kids during summer break. More than 3/4’s that had a kid during the school year face...
