quote:But that’s not only not insignificant, especially at a higher risk of exposure, the vaccine also lessens their severity for those who do get it. Not to mention, it reduces the likelihood of coming in contact with someone else who is exposed, especially when precautions aren’t taken (e.g., a colleague).
The flu vaccine isn’t very effective. Some years less than 50%.

I’m sure it happens but it’s very rare for a practicing physician to die from the the flu.
quote:Of course. I’m just saying that despite being at less risk of severe complications if they got the flu, it still lessens the risks that does exist.
Vaccination is more to prevent physicians from spreading the virus to high risk pt that are much more likely to die from the flu.

They are also working insane hours and grabbing whatever they can eat in between patients. Not helpful for the immune system.

#Updates: South China’s Guangxi reported two new cases of #WuhanCoronavirus, with one patient only 2 years old, the youngest to be affected by the pneumonia.
Previous youngest I heard was 13-15.

That’s because they have to guess the strain in advance... sometimes they guess wrong.

Quoting before Chinese Govt takes it down:
Voice message from a medical staff in #Wuhan. "There are more than 100,000 infected. The government provides no medical supplies... People are dying right in front of our eyes...Don't EVER trust the government. We are on our own."

I mean I get the practicality of it, but this seems like another example of the over and misuse of the commerce clause to justify authority, especially since it directly relates to “due process clause,” specifically “liberty.”
And the law’s text really gives them a lot of latitude, only requiring a reasonable beliefs they someone is infected and that they may come in contact with someone who may be moving from Ike state to another.

Sure but we’re still talking about an extremely rare event. I would guess that an unvaccinated otherwise healthy physician would have about a 1 in 100,000 chance of dieing from the flu.
I’m not saying that one doctor dieing is a big deal but reports of multiple doctors dieing would be.

I believe the numbers are high but there are way to many trolls right now to believe stuff like this on Twitter.
I love people who won’t believe a word from media or govt but will take a report from some random twitter account as gospel. (Not saying people here a doing that)

That’s impossible. We have already been told by buckeye_vol and slackster that they must be lying.
And for the record I concede that it may not be 90k-100k. It could be a couple hysterical people going off. We don’t know at this point. Transmission rate in other countries will tell the tale.

I’m going to be honest. I’d risk the Kung Flu to hit up a street meat vendor right now. Dang fine vittles on that table right there.
