Depends on what industry the OP is in. You'll make way more money anywhere but Louisiana if you're an IT professional.

With recent spikes in car and homeowners insurance, skyrocketing utility bills, and inflation, the actual cost of living in Louisiana has risen, but local tech wages haven't kept pace. The handful of tech companies in Louisiana possess budgets that are capped by public spending guidelines, employers simply do not have the financial flexibility or equity options like RSU's public tech companies use to sweeten compensation packages.

Heavy industry runs this market, and it's actually booming in some areas. He's not trying to weigh Prairieville vs Nashville. Dutchtown is a decent place to raise a family with a relatively sane cost of living.

If the job drastically increases your pay, its worth it. your commute would easily be 2.5-3 hour per day (1 wreck ANYWHERE in the city would push that to 3.5-4 hours per day).

Job would be near Industriplex Blvd.

That isn’t too bad to Prairieville.

Man, he'd have an hour commute to Denham Springs at 5pm. It would suck arse. He'd spend 3 hrs per day minimum.

Get in Prairieville high school district

This. P-ville high school is what Dutchtown HS was 10 years ago. They split the Dutchtown school district map when they built Prairieville HS. This changed the demographics at Dutchtown HS. Dutchtown is still a great school, but the kids that went to Prairieville HS are not the ones Dutchtown needed to lose.

Dutchtown/Prairieville area is a great to raise a family. Both high schools are good schools. Prairieville is the newer school (2 years old) but they already started renovating Dutchtown. Also they are adding an athletic field house and another entrance that’ll help with traffic on hwy 73.

I have two kids. One is currently in college and one is a senior this year. Both excelled at Dutchtown and wouldn’t change a thing. Is it perfect? Absolutely not but it worked out great for us.

It's a perfectly fine place to raise kids. If I was OP I'd either decline the job or move though. Take a few days off and make that drive yourself and see if I'm lying.

Go to Prairieville. Best school in Ascension parish. 2 new Principals are solid.

My kids are seniors at Dutchtown. If I had to choose, I’d choose Prairieville.

Not true. The kids in Dutchtown high school district actually have much nicer neighborhoods than on the other side of Airline in P’ville district.

You can’t commute Covington to BR. Just know that.

Well, it simply depends upon exactly where you live in Covington and exactly where you plan to move in Praireville. It also depends upon your daily departure times to and from.

We lived in Mandeville and commented to BR 2 or 3 times a week. We would leave at 5:15 and drive just over an hour. At that time, we'd leave BR between 2:30 and 2:45 pm. The drive time was the same, just over an hour. We now live in Madisonville (Ponchy is close). The morning drive now takes about 55 mins. However, we now leave after 3 PM. That is important. Something horrific happens to the BR traffic after 3 pm. I believe Satan is in control. Some days it takes 90 mins to get to Madisonville. It's usually just a BR thing, but Hammond causes problems 2 or 3 times a month.

I work with people who drive from Praireville to BR and back. I hear them bitching about 45 min drive times (not every day).

It could be bad either way you look at it. Good luck.

You should definitely not try that commute. Prairieville isn’t as nice as Mandeville or Covington, imo, but it’s still a fine place to raise a family.
