Can’t wait to deal with BR traffic once Amazon comes on line and construction starts on I-10.

The city is about to widen Airline between Florida and Plank. And I think also between I-12 to Highland.
Waiting on state matching funds, which never seem to happen.

Quite amazing how much faster private industry can get shite built compared to government.

Time is literally money for them

I'm in 70815-16.
This is the single best thing that's happened within these zip codes in BR history.
They're going to employ about 300 people per shift. For a building that size, this is miniscule. It's mostly fully automated.
Meanwhile, we'll be able to get our paper towels, toilet paper, and other gizmos delivered at a low cost (likely same day), from Amazon and the Chinese manufacturers that warehouse goods directly in their facilities.
So how many local grocery & retail jobs will we lose?
And guess who got a property tax exemption?
This is net loss for Baton Rouge. They needed us, we did not need them.

It's actually behind schedule.

I remember last year when all the local "experts" told us there was no way, no how Amazon could stick to their timeline.
Amazing what happens when locals aren't involved in the building process...

Yeah, screw that image without fixing the Airline/12 cloverleaf interchange. Already one of the biggest traffic points in Baton Rouge without any Amazon trucks trying to merge at 10 mph over 50 yards.

That’s because the faster Amazon gets that up, the faster Amazon makes money

Something to think about next time you build a house and the contractor spits out a 10 month timeline.
You too could have a house in a month if you wanted to use the type of construction they use on these things and only wanted four walls and a concrete floor. It's basically a giant lego kit.

Meh….they quickly building one comparable in size in Shreveport too.

I've seen larger buildings in the Quad.

Would you rather Cortana mall just stand there like a grave doing jack
Posted on 4/8/22 at 1:22 pm to frequent flyer
Meh.
There was a thread when this first started and the completion date was August 2022.
They are hauling arse but no fricking way. There is probably 2 months alone of equipment installation and testing in that place.
I said it then and I’ll say it now, not gonna happen.
I’ve noticed they have also switched concrete suppliers. If I had to guess the original supplier wouldn’t honor the PO price with all the escalation recently.
I imagine most of their steel joist orders were placed before the materials markets went nuts.
I have noticed the wear and tear on the perimeter road from all the construction traffic. They are probably going to have to repair/replace all of that once the building is complete.

Lol pretty sure they'd do that baw. I wasn't going to draw out a quad stack interchange in microsoft paint.

I think the area around Airline and Florida will be okay as far as traffic. It was built to handle mall traffic.
But everywhere else in the network, including the exact interchange you mentioned at I-12 and Airline, will feel the pinch. They really need to upgrade Airline. Need to change that interchange at I-12, then make it 8 lanes between Old Hammond and Florida. Then make the rest of Airline 6 lanes everywhere else in EBR.
As painful as it will be, we've got to get I-10 widened too.

It’s sad that Louisiana touts this as economic development.

It's eventually going to employ between 2,000 and 3,000 more people that a the dead mall it replaced. So yeah it's damn nice to have.
We need something for low skilled workers too. Not everyone is an engineer or an MBA.
