So no. Not comparable at all.

Yeah, but Shreveport/Bossier has a loop, so they're still coming out ahead. People applauding amazon buying up every single empty facility they can across the country to push more Chinese manufactured products. Byebye mom and pop's that are still leaning on one leg.

Yeah but you have to realize that they have over a dozen of their fulfillment centers spread out all over the 'burbs.

I cancelled my Prime subscription this week so IDGAF. $150 just isnt worth it on my end.

This was the original plan. That is why the Airline interchanges at Jefferson Hwy. and Greenwell Springs Rd. are built the way they are.

They will employ up to 3,000 between all shifts, and have expanded the design for their their employee parking to about 2,000 spaces.

Got a link for this?

2000 employees at 4 shifts would be 8000. The only media I can find suggests "over 1000," which I take to mean about 300 per shift.

Why is everyone getting so excited about an automated warehouse full of cheap Chinese shite?

Baton Rouge always gets excited over third rate shite. West Communications back in the 90s….the Football Network in the 00s…

90' tall I find that hard to believe. I did work on the one in port Allen. Looks close to the same height.

It’s 7 floors with 12–13 foot per floor, right at 90 ft

It’s 5 floors with a mezzanine in between the first and second floor. Ground floor and 4 decks. Also - they didn’t switch concrete suppliers. I work for one of them (im on site for a week at a time every few weeks). It’s the same 2 concrete suppliers that started the job. We each have our own scope.
Not sure if it’ll end up being 90’ tall but it’ll be pretty close from what it looks like right now.

And some of you old sticks in the mud are the first to bitch when there's positive news in BTR, like getting the Amazon DC.

It boggles the mind, any time something positive comes along there's a loud contingent of people online shouting it down bc it's not the specific project they want, or they think it's stupid. The BR Zoo renovation being a great example.

Why run the "loop" through the middle of town. Hook the shite up at Holden or somewhere. People will fill in the inside.

Quite amazing how much faster private industry can get shite built compared to government.

Yeah, private industry is great. Like that time they built that Hard Rock Hotel on Canal Street in NOLA.

Pretty sure you just compared one to the other when revealing that 6X differential.

Wasn't a city inspector kind of involved in that one?

Government just slows shite down, accidents still occur.

It's pervasive throughout Louisiana. People have to attack anything that looks like progre4ss or change. I don't know what they gain by doing it but it is extremely harmful. The negative psyche is difficult to overcome.

Amazon products have progressively gotten worse. More and more Chinese shite. Most of it from the same factories, just different labels.

Their prices on quality stuff is competitive, but not usually the lowest. I shop other places more often than Amazon.

There was a guy running for NY governor a few years ago who floated this idea. He said we should allow private industry to build infrastructure and in-turn they can have the naming rights.

Somewhat related. The Business Report article below said 1,000-3,000 employees overall. And it excludes truck drivers and delivery personnel and the employees out of the smaller St George and Port Allen facilities.

No idea what kind of shifts they run.

quote:

Earlier this year, the Metro Council approved a $35.4 million, 10-year property tax abatement on the project that will, effectively, exempt Amazon from all local taxes except those that support EBR Schools. In return, Amazon guaranteed it will create at least 1,000 new jobs.

Based on revised plans it has submitted since then to the city-parish, the facility appears to be planning to hire at least 3,000 workers, not including temporary workers that will fill in during the holiday season or drivers, who work under contract for the company.
