Checking every receipt is not a “random” stop. It’s pretty similar to the metal detectors at sporting events. No one is absolved so it’s not some profiling issue.

The constitutional law really applies to government and government oversight. Not private business. You are trying to make an argument for constitutional rights when Really that has nothing to do with private business policy. Walmart has every right in their policy to ask to see the receipt. Really if they were smart they would just say that every person that refuses to show the receipt is a suspect if theft and then it would be in the constitutional right of the police to detain and search.

You have no constitutional right to patronize a private business and not abide by their internal policies. You should shop somewhere else if you don't want to show your receipt to the person at the door leaving Wal Mart.

Yes they could and would face multiple claims of false detention and/ or false arrest.

Its a private business engaging in loss prevention, which in turn keeps their costs lower. The constitution has nothing to do with any of this. Its a fricking receipt. STFU or go somewhere else douche.
Should any Wal Mart employee have touched you or detained you, no. Should they have called the police and let them do it since you exhibited behavior that may lead them to believe you were stealing, absolutely.

That concept is foreign to so many. It's embarrassing. Same as the concept of the "my rights". People don't understand that exercising your "rights" can still have results you may not like.
