I refused and walked away from the sentinel police officer when they confirmed I was not being accused of a crime so I as a private entity I have no obligation to the corporate entity either once I pay for my purchases.

You are correct that it is not a law. You are in the United States where wealthy corporations buy politicians and lobby (bribe) them to pass just about any law they want. If WalMart wants to make this a law, they have the money and the politicians to do it.
The constitution matters very little anymore. It literally says that in the United States we have the right to bear arms. There is no ambiguity about it. The founding fathers and the authors of the constitution made it very clear that if you are anywhere in the U.S. you have the right to bear arms and that right shall not be infringed upon. It's as clear as it can be. Still, there are entire cities in the U.S. where you will be imprisoned for carrying a firearm. How is this possible when the constitution is very clear about this? They haven't given a shite about the constitution for a very long time.

My original premise was to learn whether there was some law that mandated shoppers to show the receipt. Many responses got way off t he topic either via snarky remarks or ad hominem comments. No one has been able to establish a legal basis for them to do so.
You made an insightful point. There might be a time when such a law is passed which would force us to show the receipts. Until then I will continue as I have done and refuse their request.

Do you also purposely disregard other procedures that businesses request from their customers? Standing in line, waiting your turn, etc...

Nope,I respect the process like any other law abiding and respectful citizen. At that point the product still belongs to the store. Once I complete the transaction and the cashier hands me a receipt the product is legally mine as is my right to depart the store and ignore any requests to show the receipt.
Nice try to create a moral equivalency,but you failed.

Why do you believe that you,me or any customer should show your receipt when leaving the store. I have shopped for years at multiple stores and this is a recent phenomenon I have encountered only at Walmart. There are likely other stores which may do this but this is the only store I have experienced this treatment.
Give your reason. Thats just the way they do it is not a reason so you need to think on it.
