Most of the time they do not ask to see it.
Don't you realize with the self-checkouts you could pretend like you're paying and just bag the shite and leave the store?
Just show the damned receipt.
You're about to have bigger problems with commies like LaToya Cantrell wanting businesses to ask customers for ID so they can be tracked (presumably for CoronaVirus)

I've often wondered what's the point in those people other than to provide someone with a job. Surely the aggregate they spend on employing those people nationwide is more than what they save on preventing loss due to theft. Most big box retailers don't go after shoplifters anyway as the liability is too high.

Valid point. However, if it wasn't constitutional then they still couldn't do it. It's not constitutional to kill someone but even if they sign an agreement saying that it's ok to kill them, i would still go away for murder.
