I put my receipt in my wallet and walk out. I say no thanks to anyne wanting to see my receipt. Never had an issue.

I'm no lawyer, but I imagine Walmart is private property that you willingly entered and they can ask certain concessions from you for allowing you on their property.
It seems wildly unnecessary to make this an issue, unless you didn't want the worker to know you'd bought enough cucumbers and lube to last the weekend.

Jebus. In a very small nutshell: Walmart is NOT the gubment. They are a private corporation. They can ask you whatever the frick they want. It is your right not to shop there.

A private business can most certainly ask for a receipt to make sure you paid for the products you are carrying. Refusing to do so gives the cop the right to interfere on behalf of the business.
ETA: That doesn’t mean you can be arrested, but the business can deny you in the future if you don’t follow their policy.

Asking to see your receipt is not constitutionally flawed. They are a private business they can ask you whatever they want. You were not detained. You were not forced to show the receipt.
