I like how you admit that you haven’t visited since 2015 and when you were visiting, it was always for short vacations, but somehow you’re more in tune with the area than the people that actually live around here.

I have a problem with dirty people who aspire to nothing but want you to join in their self deprecating guilt about everything under the sun, and take things way over the top.

Not me. I either laugh at them, or just ignore them and go on about my business.

Although I do remember in San Diego once when some young, dirty white guy approached me asking for money. I looked at him and said he should give ME something. I saw he had a pack of Camels in his shirt pocket, so I told him to give me a cigarette. He looked surprised, but he gave me a cigarette. He kind of followed us for a while, I guess thinking I'd give him something in return. But when he saw I was just going to light up and walk away, he just turned off. Sometimes you gotta just have fun with folks.

And remember, don't pet the sweaty things.

I suspect being a condescending douchebag comes naturally for you. It’s 2022, but tell us more about your expertise on an area you haven’t visited in almost a decade.

Asheville was one of the unfortunate places that was flooded with blue state refugees.

Asheville burbs and the surrounding areas are beautiful. The city itself is quite outlandish. I like how it’s pet friendly but you will see people shite in the street/sidewalk (at least I did). Phenomenal restaurants there and the city is generally fun to walk around. Overall, wouldn’t live in downtown but to call Asheville overhyped/overrated is kinda ridiculous.

Before I'd tell you to check out the almost daily protestors at the Vance monument, but the city tore it down last year.

Still protestors there most days anyway.

I just prefer to eat my meals without some blue haired idiot screaming about freeing Palestine or whatever the progressive cause de jour is that particular day. It's fricking annoying, and it's why I won't bother dining in downtown Asheville again.

Waynesville has managed to avoid most of what makes Asheville a dump these days. If you want an idea of what Asheville used to be, visit downtown Waynesville.

Which is why this is where the wife and I stay when we're in the area and avoid Asheville. The Andon-Reid Inn is our preferred place to stay, and I highly recommend them.

When hippies grew up and realized their communes sucked.

All these ex commune gathering places are exactly the same. expect insanity with pseudo decent food and drinks.

I was there two weeks ago visiting family, first time since 2018 but I have been many times.

It has changed.

Although still a beautiful city, I was shocked by the amount of heroin addicts who were openly using in the downtown touristy areas on the sidewalks in front of restaurants and breweries.

Apparently it's a "Defund The Police" city and the local city government has instructed the police to look the other way.

I felt like I was in San Francisco, it was surreal.

But there might be people there that don't think exactly like I think so I can't like it
