What a pretentious joke of a city. Whoopie do!! 200 hundred people!

Let me tell you about Asheville. About two years ago we visited there to see if we wanted to move there since we had been hearing how great Asheville is for over 20 years.

I have never in my life been to a more overhyped vacation destination in my life.
Talk about ‘MEH!’ It wasn’t nearly as beautiful as people had been saying. Trust me, we googled the most desirable areas to visit. I was actually stunned at how uninspiring and what an utter letdown this joke of a city was.

If they had to use one picture in the dictionary next to the word ‘overhyped’ it should be Asheville.

I hear baton rouge is particularly beautiful and a wonderful place to raise kids as LSU fans. The stadium is so close and there is even a college you can attend. You should consider moving there to your forever home.

I vacation in the Blue Ridge/Smokies of NC once a year and we don't go into Asheville at all anymore. Waynesville, Brevard and other towns are very nice for shopping, eating etc.

i love when people start threads like this; as if asheville is some obscure little town few people have traveled to

The surrounding areas are nice. But I do not get the hype of Asheville. They are trying way too hard to be like California.

I don’t feel that way at all. Everyone is nice, they have lots of good food choices, most breweries per capita in the country, beautiful surrounding landscape, etc.

I think the sentiment is that asheville used to be awesome.

I've never been there, I can't say one way or another. But everything I read tells me it's a beautiful mountain town with great potential to be a very respectable mid-sized city, and it saw the worst of the crunchy invasion.

Sliding rock, just a bit north of Brevard, is awesome. My grandparents used to take us there when we were kids, back when you didn't even have to pay for it. Which tells you how long ago that was

I go to Asheville 8-10 times a year for work. 10 years ago it was something I really looked forward to each trip. Now I'd rather not go. It's still beautiful and plenty of shite to do, but the people are fricking terrible. Covid melted what little brains they had

Interesting. I went twice last year, both times a day or two after mask mandates were lifted. And the people there rolled their eyes at masks and nobody ever asked us to wear one. Should be going next week or the week after.

The only problem I have is that it gets way too crowded. Last time we went there were lines out the door of several breweries and zero shot at a place to sit. Restaurants were the same way, fortunately we had a reservation for Curaté but other choices were packed.

Definitely don't want to go back unless it's during the week.

Wrong. Asheville proper is filled with assholes. Black Mountain, Waynesville, and the surrounding communities are not.

Asheville seems like one of those towns that love their Pride.

Yeah I can say outside of Asheville is 100% Trump country. I was there during covid and no one was having it. We ate in packed diners, with kids, no masks anywhere
