When I worked in DC I loved riding the Metro. Cheaper, much quicker, less stressful and being in the pre-cordless internet days it allowed me to read the newspaper on the rides.

If I have to live outside of a mile or two from where I work...I ain’t working or living there.

It is funny tho that people in shite states like Louisiana bag on public transportation being for the poors and dangerous when in most cities it is completely opposite. Some people will never learn tho. Why educated professionals choose to stay in those states is beyond me.

I have been using Brightline here in Miami for the last week

that has only fairly recently become a viable commuting option, Tri-Rail system sucked balls when I lived there

I didn't mind using public transit in Europe.

Not so much here in the US.

Brightline is a private entity that is owned by Florida East Coast railroad and managed by Virgin Trains. It is not public and you can really see the difference. I will try to remember to take some pics on my next commute.

Depends on the day. If traffic on I-95 is moving then it is roughly the same amount of time. The Brightline averages like 76mph in between Miami and FLL. If I-95 is a parking lot (which on most days it is) I save anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

I live in DC and took the metro to work every day.. Ridership has fallen due to the increase in cost, the unreliability of metro and not to mention the shenanigans that goes on.

I switched to the MARC and take a 25 min ride from Rockville to Union station and couldn't be happier with it.

i'd much rather be stuck in traffic in my truck alone or with people i want to be around than crammed on a train with a bunch of people i have no desire to be around.

also, if i decide i want to stop somewhere, i just stop. if i decide to change directions, i can do that too.

The does not look fun but I bet it is better than this:

Even with the toll express lanes (which BR should really really invest in btw) I-95 is a parking lot 75% of the time.

Ya I saw you posted that after I made my post. That wouldn't be too bad then. But most public mass transit in the US blows arse.

I love taking the train to Chicago or KC. With Uber/Lyft, getting around once I get there is no problem.

I would agree with that. Hopefully this brightline model works out and other states start copying.

You ballers with your fancy cars and private jets can't touch what I got. Private Train. Only real OT ballers have their own private train. I'm very limited in where I can go due to the whole track situation. Mostly stockyards, chemical plants, etc.. But when I go there, I go there like the ultimate baller.

Have to take I-95 from downtown to get to the turnpike. The turnpike interchange by Jackson North Hospital is one of the biggest logjams on I-95. There is always some idiot that is in the two far right lanes and realizes that he needs to be in the far left lane to make interchange and causes a wreck when he tries to cut across three lanes of traffic.
