. There are several places underneath that bridge where huge chunks of concrete have fallen off and rebar is exposed and corroding rapidly. I’ll be damned if I die due to that bridge collapsing. 210 is the only way to go. That or 190 and back roads. Whoever said it will be replaced when it collapses is right. Unreal.

That bridge is one of the most heavily monitored bridges in the US. It just underwent a huge reno a few years ago.

The local delegation was against any tolls.

LA has a 20 cent state gas tax.

TX has a 20 cent state gas tax.

FL has a 26 cent state gas tax.

All major new bridges and roads in TX and FL are toll roads.

This is now the way of the world. Major highways and bridges need to be toll roads. It's the only way it works. LA needs to get over this.

Fixed. We all know it was voted down because someone isn't getting their cut.

Why local and state politics doesn't get but a fraction of the voter turnout and public outcry as Washington, DC remains a mystery to me. Right down to school boards, commissioners or magistrate. I'll never get it.

210 was the one that had a reno a few years ago, not the I10 deathtrap. Unless there was one on I10 that was before or after 210 that I am not aware of, I left the Lake Charles area during the 210 reno.

most were newly created routes as toll roads. changing a road from normal use to toll, even with improvements, seems like a logistical mess.

That's simly false. In places like intercity? Maybe. Ever driven from KC to Topeka? Anywhere in Jersey? Or I-95 at all? IH system tolls are everywhere.

Exactly. If this was a new loop or route, the toll probably wouldn't be seeing this type of opposition

toll on I-10 is stupid....it will re-route people around on 2-10 which will make traffic worse.

Aren't most of these privately funded and become part of the state after a set time?

The $800 million and a toll is what made me question this. Is the toll being paid to a private group for a portion of the investment?

I drive over that bridge every morning and evening. My only hope of generational wealth is being on it when it collapses.

It's quite sad that everyday is a prayer. If it collapsed tomorrow this states economy would be severely impacted.

Kind of hilarious they refuse to fix the situation.

How? Elected officials say this, teacher pay raises, better schools tough on crime. But never how. Because, there is no easy answer.

Dude, you do realize that this is Louisiana you are talking about. Frickery is standard operating procedure.

Personally think a toll there would not be smart from a traffic standpoint but a new bridge is needed. Dumbshite mutha fuqqas.
