You don’t see comedians being allowed to move up the latter to writing/directing movies like they used to. Hollywood won’t allow it.
This isn't Seinfeld/Ray Ramano/Roseanne 1991. Real comedians have so many outlets for their content that most dont want that TV/Movie gig. They can make their own content, not have to listen to TV/Movie executive offer their dumb opinions, and still make tons of cash.
Becoming a TV or movie star isn't the pinnacle of comedy like it used to be.

He seems like a decent guy, but he’s not that funny.
Don’t really follow him enough to weigh in. That being said, the show/movie that has the clip of the son doing the play about Vietnam is absolute gold. I watch and die laughing every time that comes across my feed. Not sure if it is from a movie or tv show but it is wonderful.

he used to be funny when he was more insecure and grounded, with his success his ego has exploded and his comedy persona now is pretty arrogant and condescending
her deneanor has always been pretty grounded in reality and a lot of their clashes are about his selfihness or lack of empathy.

Having an extremely dumb and insufferable black wife will do that.
He's been with her since the early 00s, basically around the time his very first special was released.

OP: You really care about this stuff? Really?

Now him and Bert have become pretty insufferable. Bert is worse though. Biggest attention whore and least funny comedian ever IMO.
Bert is genuinely unfunny. Tom is naturally a funny guy and really likable, but that doesn't always make you a great comedian. Still, his standup is way better than Bert's.
Bert fricking sucks. "HAHA IM FAT AND DRUNK AND TAKE OFF MY SHIRT!! HAHA!!!"

Bert is like Theo Von, in that they are funny guys but terrible stand ups
Bert is the guy you grew up with that is always looking to be obnoxious for shock value due to some deep laden insecurity and need for attention. Everyone is annoyed by them, but they somehow stick around.
He's not funny. He's annoying.

And somehow Bill Burr has turned into a complete fig
Yeah I don't know how this happened. He used to step on the woke third rail constantly in his show and flip everyone with hurt feelings the bird.
I saw him like 12 years ago and it was incredible. He's completely lost his edge.

His comedy fell off a cliff after he got married, and died when they had kids.
I used to listen to his podcast regularly
It got pathetic

He's the guy who will do crazy shite on a dare.
I have had buddies like that
Dude is always full of joy.
But his stand up is painful.

Nah, he knows what to say in interview settings to people to not make half the country hate him, but I would bet he's not liberal. Catholic, jock, blue collar background, good friends with the Kill Tony people, etc.
His material is definitely not giving liberal vibes either

He's definitely very far from a bleeding heart liberal, but I don't think he's like really a MAGA/Trump person either.
To me he comes off pretty middle of the road, leaning right on a lot of stuff but also leaning left on stuff too.
He seems like a guy who would be considered center/center left 20 years ago, but what was center/center left 20 years ago is center right/right in 2026. Like most successful comedians, he will joke about "uncomfortable" topics or things that aren't politically correct. That used to be more of a "left" leaning philosophy back in the day, but these days the left are the new puritans so even making completely benign jokes on race, gender, religion will many times get you cast as "right-wing" by the current flavor of the american left.

Respectfully disagree. Theo is likable and his podcast is superior because he doesn’t make it all about him, rather about the guest.
Theo is funny, but his live standup is awful.
Saw him live and he stopped numerous times and lost his place and just paced around mad. At one point paced back in forth for like a minute or two saying nothing. He apologized at the end it was so bad. He had completely lost the audience. Been to quite a few live standups and it was by far the worst.

What about Outside of YouTube or Internet forums? You don’t see comedians being allowed to move up the latter to writing/directing movies like they used to. Hollywood won’t allow it. You don’t see funny shows anymore or movies. Hell shows that even used to be funny are no longer funny, South Park and family guy are great examples.
One of the best shows of this year is a comedy/horror combo (Widows Bay).
And comedy is absolutely still being made. Righteous Gemstones and Danny McBride is a great example of this.

I’ve listened to his podcast a good bit. He plays up his “white trash hometown” in his standup but on the pod he’s been more honest about his background. He comes from a good family
