A 20-year-old Colorado woman was killed Wednesday night after a rock was thrown at her vehicle. Local law enforcement is investigating her death and a series of similar incidents from Wednesday night.

At about 10:45 p.m. local time, Alexa Bartell was driving in Jefferson County when suspects, believed to be in a vehicle or possibly on the side of a road, threw a large rock at Bartell's car, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. The rock went through the windshield and struck and killed her, the sheriff's office said.

Bartell was on the phone with a friend when she was struck, according to the sheriff's office. The phone went silent, but Bartell's friend was able to find her by tracking the phone, police said. The friend found Bartell fatally wounded ine her car, which had driven off the road and into a field, the sheriff's office said.

My now ex wife had a rock bounce off a crawler that was on a hauler and lodge in the headlight.

It was about the size of a softball, a foot higher and she would have had the same outcome.

Scary shite.

About 4-5 other cars had rocks thrown through their windshields that night in addition to the young woman who was killed. The other people weren’t injured or suffered minor injuries.

Silver dodge ram with a lift kit in JeffCo, probably some PoS teenagers but we will see…

I think I remember this happening around BR when I was younger. And I remember being kinda freaked out about it because there’s almost no chance unless you see the rock, which would be almost impossible at night, especially if thrown or dropped from an overpass.

It was in the mid ‘80’s. Diane Upp was the victim. She was driving on I-10 and a kid out of Valley Park tossed a chunk of concrete off the overpass at Nairn Dr. went through the windshield. She was one of the kindest souls one could ever encounter.

If memory serves, the family pressed hard to not have the kid spend time in jail - kid was really young and the family didn’t want 2 lives wasted over the senseless act.

It’s not. Denver is its own city/county. Even when it was a part of a county, it was Arapahoe County, which then also included what is now Adams County.

Did it shoot out of a gun?

Seriously, the media is desensitizing the public. Once they find a type of story that generates a lot of traffic then they start looking for those stories.

Black kids gets shot by old white man for going to the wrong house or some shite.

All of a sudden there is a report of a girl being shot for turning into the wrong drive way, next day some girl goes to get into a car that looked like hers, but it wasn't, the person in the car went back and shot at them (I guess. Maybe he killed one of them?) either way, how much shite used to go on before social media that we never heard of? The out of sight out of mind days were better for everyone's mental health.

I may be a dumbass, but I know damn well that the Denver metro area isn’t what it once was. No one should be surprised by this in today’s Denver.
