Sorry dude.
Filter out the shithead responses. See if your kid can take it again bc that guy is right 2 pts will make a big difference and isn't unrealistic. If not, look into grants and aid even because you never know what is out there. Good luck, I will be looking for my kid soon as well.

28 ACT is not going to get big scholarships. 33 plus is needed
I had 3.4 and 31 on the ACT and I got the highest level of tops plus an additional scholarship from LSU. It almost added up to a full ride for 4 years.

sorry to hear that...i've done the single dad thing, except mine decided that she liked pills and booze more than us...
now that being said, what's his major? have you looked at the Louisiana directionals? my youngest ended up at Southeastern for nursing and she got a sweet deal as an out of state transfer...if she had gone to SLU as a freshman she probably would have gotten a full ride...

You are going to let a stupid game influence major decisions that will affect you financially, that's not real bright.

LSU doesn't limit the choice of vehicle to one manufacturer.

As somebody that just graduated from undergrad that went to 3 different universities 2 private and one public, as well as has siblings doing the same exact thing right now as yours would recommend definitely taking the ACT again as well as looking into the SAT.
What does your son plan on majoring in to start with as well as will it come down to money or fit? As in if a school offers 75-80% of the money but its where he wants to go is that a possibility.
If fraternities and that type of thing are for your son look into Ole Miss, they are very generous with out of state exemptions and give out big money and he would get the whole experience. As an LSU family I do not know how much longer TOPS has and it has already been cut a lot compared to where it was just two years ago.
Without knowing his major or longterm field it is tough to say, but Bama like others have said give out a lot of out of state schollies now. Also use that La Tech scholarship when directly talking with other schools they are people also, even if La Tech is not where your son truly wants to go other schools will often times match just upon knowing that info of what you have already been offered.
Also depending on what activities he did in high school, sports, clubs, etc. a lot of schools have minor scholarships that go unused that you have to apply for separately so look into everyone of those. I would recommend staying away from the Baylor, SMU, TCU's of the world as that would be a waste.

My son got a sweet deal from LA Tech, too. If it were up to me, he'd have gone there, but his mom was willing to fund the 7k extra after scholly and TOPS so he's at LSU(he could have gone to Harvard for the exact same amount).
He finished with a 32ACT and 3.8 GPA.
Check out SLU in Hammond and ULL, both gave him pretty sweet deals. If I remember correct, SLU was actually going to end up paying him 1200 a semester after all was said and done.

He could have gone to Harvard at the exact same price at LSU and he is at LSU?

There are probably 150 kids from SJA, CHS, and BRMHS alone with damn near perfect GPAs and ACTs.
really? That many kids with 36 ACTs?

Does he live in Louisiana? Would not he qualify for TOPS with those numbers?
Posted on 11/12/18 at 1:16 pm to dirtbag lsu
With those scores a big scholarship from a large SEC school is probably out the question. Focus on schools about the size of La tech.
Go look at the current members of CUSA or Sunbelt, etc.

He is a 3.5 with a 28 ACT.
Not being a dick, but I didn't know these stats would get a scholarship anywhere.

Act isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. The scoring has become more relaxed

That puts you in the 88th percentile nationally. Are you retarded or just an a-hole? That automatically qualifies you for the Tiger Excellence scholarship at LSU, and based on his need base (single dad), it probably will get him close to a full ride after TOPS and the beforementioned Tiger Excellence award.
