My son is applying for colleges right now.

Got a pretty sweet deal for La tech but wants LSU. Probably still gonna be to much. I am single dad........so not a baller.

Who else in the south (besides Bama) offers big scholarships? He is a 3.5 with a 28 ACT.

With high scores, he should be able to find the money. He may have to apply for a bunch of different ones, but he can put it all together if he really wants it.

You're not getting much for a 3.5 and 28. There are probably 150 kids from SJA, CHS, and BRMHS alone with damn near perfect GPAs and ACTs.

Bama gives out great scholarships, but they also have to have exemplary grades.

Try Ole Miss.

TOPS Honors and a Pell Grant will pay for just about anywhere he wants to go in LA (public schools).

He'll be doing himself a huge favor for scholarships if he can take the ACT again before scholarship deadlines and get a couple more points.

He can probably get out of state tuition exempt, where you would only have to pay in-state tuition, at pretty much any sec school besides Vandy and maybe UGA with those grades.

These aren't going to get you top of the line scholarships. If you are a single dad, he can probably qualify for some grants. What does he plan on majoring in?

He needs to join a bunch of clubs and do some charity work if he wants the good scholarships. It wouldn't hurt if he identified as black either. He can still get TOPS at least.

If his education was free - I would put that football rivalry on the back burner.

Exactly. If bama offered a scholarship, being from out of state. It would be hard to turn down especially after spending a weekend there on a visit going to a game and seeing the campus. Sorry but they’ve got it going on. Baton Rouge is just in such bad shape it’s beyond fixing. How do you convince a kid to spend 4 years in br as opposed to Tuscaloosa when the town itself is much nicer, smaller and they’re winning national championships left and right?

He should also consider the university of Arkansas, university of Oklahoma and TCU. Those are all excellent choices imo.

Have you actually been to their campus? It’s pretty damn nice all bs aside. The town isn’t bad either. Don’t make your kid exclude UA because of their FB team.
