I know a Dr who graduated in religious studies, LSU undergrad and med. She’s a derm, married to another Dr in Alexandria.

Proud history major here. Gainfully employed. Next degree might be in theology. I know what I love and love what I know.

Home Economics?!??!
I've never seen this as a major at any college.

B/c there is a lack of critical thinking with technical fields. Taking a class in lit or political science or history can help with your writing, research, and thinking.

I never did in my first degree, and after looking up the flowcharts of all college engineering programs in LA and MS, literature wasn't a requirement to graduate....only UNO

I have a history degree and a great paying job in insurance. I had my job with a fortune 50 company literally calling me to offer me a job as I finished my last final. That was 10 years ago and I’m doing just fine.
Tell me how much your history degree is helping though?
ETA - and not knocking your degree, just wondering how much it specifically is helping in the insurance field.

1) Pastoring a church is a real job
2) Being a minister is full time plus some
3) Many pastors are more influential than most people will ever dream of being.
And no, I'm not talking about the big names and the prosperity gospel type. Those people are despicable and know very little about any religion.

I’m reminded of an old Mad Magazine gag in which a homeless guy is holding up a sign reading “Hear about Pygmy mating rituals - $0.10”, which discusses the glut of anthropology majors caused by the student loan laws being passed.

It’s probably considered “fashion design” at a lot of schools rather than the cooking portion most people think of.

If you're Joel Osteen you don't need one.
He had one semester at Oral Roberts and was concentrating on radio/TV production. Left and came back to Lakewood working on their TV broadcasts.
Preached ONE sermon, Dad died that week and he was chosen as his successor. Now runs the largest single congregation in America.
And he's not the only non-graduate to run a megachurch (Robert Morris of Gateway Church in DFW also doesn't have a college degree, his congregation is nearly as large as Osteen's PLUS he's a spiritual advisor to President Trump).

How many churches of significant size are there to be placed at?
By that, I mean “Not a tax dodge a la Deedy Slaughter”.

As a history grad, I endorse this notion.

The fact that people actually put themselves in thousand of dollars worth of debt for these degrees is mind boggling.
If you can't see the value in knowing History then would you care to invest in my Zyklon B manufacturing company?

Studying History teaches you how to research and use critical thinking.
