re: CNN back to pushing COVID19:"Why a 2nd shutdown over the virus might be worse than the 1st

You told people “the only lines people need to worry about are covid hospitalizations and icu availability”
Actually, try to read my post: I said the only lines you need to directly compare to each other was those two.
You even quoted it and still didn’t get it
And I specifically said it in the context of referring to the fact that the graph has a variable scale to fit the wide range.
What’s your interpretation of the graph though? That the increase of ICU utilization has nothing to do with the correlation of an increase of COVID-19 related hospitalization admission rates? And that regardless of the reason, cutting available ICU beds in half in a matter of weeks isn't mildly concerning?
quote:
That’s so misleading, as not even hospitalization is in an ICU
Which is verbatim what I said in my next post.
It’s hilarious how irrationally angry my mere existence makes you.

I don’t think the Republicans will shutdown again.
So, November election talk is all a non-issue. Also, keep in mind a total mail in election has been pretty much killed and a non-issue as well.
Even if there is a shutdown, who stands to gain more at that point anyway? There are so many factors that would actually give the Right the edge in my way of thinking. In fact, with the Blue Big city demographic, a shutdown would ensure a Trump landslide.

thats a lie. San Marcos and certain parts of Texas are already shutting back down certain sectors
are they? In North Houston, I didn’t get that memo. And we have the highest spike in the state. Lina Hildago has her cute lil graphics and everything last week at her presser but no one seemed to care. Again, adults making adult decisions.

I agree. I think the media nonsense is to hurt the economy more so than really get anything shut down.

Covid icu beds and icu availability should be compared....

quote:It isn’t concerning at all really. Our covid hospitalizations are far less severe than months ago. Not even comparable really.

Eh.
The only time I took a hard turn for gloom was immediately after Italy was getting shite stormed. I was actually heavily and actively against the doomsayer predictions before that.
I was off the lockdown train after more data was apparent (and posted as such) but by then the situation was so polarized here that if you weren’t in the camp that it was all a hoax then you were a doomcaster.
My most recent prediction in Mid May was hitting 100k dead by June 15th, which got mild derision but...*gestures at trackers*

Which would only lead to a showdown in Congress to see who could come up with the best 3rd round of public PPP or free money to those most affected. I'm not even sure that could even be popularized well enough to "sway votes". Maybe I'm just not connecting the dots how shutting down again is such an election steal for the Dems. Seems more of a Facebook meme more than anything. Honestly can't see it.

And they'll push that narrative till the election with the goal of killing the middle class and getting Biden in office.
also, notice the timing of this push is just when POTUS wants to start holding rallies again.
dementia Joe cant fill a pool hall with supporters, so the MSM and Biden's string pullers have to start blathering about Covid.
They didn't admonish the rioters, protesters, and arsonists that burnt down the Atlanta Wendy's about gathering, did they?

IDK. The rallies for the past 5 years haven't changed much in terms of the sights and sounds. There's not a lot of undecideds going. At this point, the pep rally aspect will have the same affect at the polls as always. Red counties will turn out no matter what.

Look, it’s simple. When you have top health experts like Johns Hopkins saying protests are ok but a bbq with 12 people isn’t, nobody with a brain is going to listen or shut down again
Just won’t happen. The virus is real, but reaction is political. Anyone that says it isn’t explain the above

Yeah. Nobody (of importance) admonishing the mass protests is going to make another shut down a hard sell.

This did it for me
They really need to explain this
Or maybe I just don’t realize that your health is based on politics

Folks underestimating the severity come winter time.
The latest mutation making it 10 times more infectious is not helping matters. Once October hits we'll see how the northern states are doing. Louisiana and TX were very lucky in that it was a warm winter and really hit during March when it was already 80 degrees.

Let's say all of this is fact.
Is this why Trump and his Operation Warp Speed for a vaccine is a thing?

Yeah, these same doctors in the streets protesting will absolutely say we need another shutdown without the least bit of self awareness

I don't understand what "gotcha" you are attempting here?
Can you explain why Trump pushing hard for a vaccine somehow makes the idea that the same people admonishing people for going to the beach, were then celebrating mass protests a week later, less absurd?
