Is this why Trump and his Operation Warp Speed for a vaccine is a thing?
Trying to speed up a vaccine in order to quell the Karen hysteria that's tanking an entire global economy? That seems fairly rational. Hell, many tech companies in SF are forbidding their employees to return until a vaccine is available.

Let's say all of this is fact.

We dont even need an effective vaccine, just something safe that is injected and people will mentally feel better.

Let's say all of this is fact.
How about the press release that came out recently that said that “protesting for BLM is perfectly fine but we don’t support protesting in all situations, like those protesting stay at home orders”?
Or the nurses and physicians who physically came out to block and disrupt SAH order protests, but gave their blessing to protesting for BLM?
Or how, after all of the BLM protests, now that there is an increase in number of infections, all of the news agencies are “confused” as to where this increase is coming from.
This entire situation has taken on a whole new insanity of politicization and anyone denying that is either an idiot or purposefully being disingenuous.

Our covid hospitalizations are far less severe than months ago. Not even comparable really.
Not in Texas, which is where we were speaking of. It’s peaking (hopefully) now.
Every day of the past week has had a higher admission rate than the rest of the outbreak

Its a sad day when modern medicine is being politicized. Left will stop at nothing to get what they want and if it means ruining the economy and making a pandemic seem 10x worse than it is, then so be it

They just can't admit they were wrong. It's pathetic that they keep pushing the bullshite
ETA: Obviously the virus is serious to some, but clearly not to the majority. They just can't walk it back that they anticipated millions dying

Were TX hospitals either overrun or on the verge of being overrun at any point in this epidemic?

And you have people out there, like Sao, who deny this is happening, as if those doing it are even trying to hide it.

Oh hey. It’s the main guy who mocked the 100k threshold breach approximation which turned out to be correct with margin to spare. Even cared enough to bring it up in multiple threads after.

Hospitalizations across the board were inevitably going to go up when the country opened back up. More car crashes, more workplace accidents, more people actually going in for chest pain that turns out to be some cardiac issue.
It's hard to tell if these COVID hospitalizations are people that are in the hospital strictly as a result of COVID, or if people going to the hospital for any number of things happen to have COVID, whether symptomatic or not.

No?
But I didn’t claim they were either. Nor did I claim we are on track to do it now.
Folks, all I’ve posted in this thread are numbers straight from the Texas board of health dashboard. Not projections. Not approximations. Hard numbers. Didn’t comment on their meaning either. Other to say I don’t think it would cause major pressure for another lockdown as long as deaths don’t spike.
See above about if you aren’t in lockstep in bashing down COVID-19, you must be a doomcaster.
Why don’t I go ahead and go on record that I don’t think the present numbers or trends even suggest another lockdown.

If you weren’t talking in terms of absolute numbers of people getting admitted, you might have to give context. What? More ICU utilization? Vents? Deaths (a whole different metric than the one you explicitly referred to but okay)?

Calm down, dude.
I was only asking for the reason that if the TX hospitals weren't ever in danger of being overrun that they have some buffer room to accommodate more cases in case this wave is as bad as they claim it is.
Posted on 6/15/20 at 9:46 am to GRTiger
It’s just as likely hospitals are getting more patients because people are now going to the hospital for things they put off for two months and more people are out so more accidents are happening.

This right here. When deaths start rising, I'll care.
yet, when all my family starts getting hazard pay again, I'll maybe get worried.
