A children's picture book about George Washington and his slaves has been pulled by publishers Scholastic.
A Birthday Cake for George Washington tells the story of Washington's slave Hercules, a cook, and his daughter.
It had been criticized for its images of smiling slaves

Ganeshram was born in New York City to a Trinidadian father and an Iranian mother.

What the hell is that little girl making? Are those sprinkles? Have sprinkles really been around that long? It looks like she's crushing them up with a rock.
And damn that's a shitload of what appears to be honey going into that cake batter.
Are those dinosaur eggs on the table? They're all weird colored.
I think Hercules might have been attempting to poison our first president. Glad this book got pulled.

Imagine the critics if the slaves looked sad. You cannot erase history critics. It's not like the book is promoting slavery

I just thought they'd be thinking, better in here than in the cotton field.

Typical liberal progressive filtering of the media.

Who even thinks of thing like this, especially in children's books?

The beloved American tradition of forcing people to bake cakes against their will continues to this day

I bet the house slaves were much happier than the field slaves

She's smiling because her daddy just told her that clits aren't cut off in America.
