GW gave his slaves rifles and horses to help protect his land from poachers. Slavery is wrong and has always been wrong, but you don't arm people then mistreat them.

Political censorship and the legal prohibition on all politically incorrect thought are key elements of every Leftist/Progressive political platform.
Such thought control is politically necessary for the well-being of the Regime. If the masses were exposed to information and history that conflict with those established by the Party and the Government Rulers of the Party, the masses could become confused and misled, perhaps adopting politically dangerous dispositions that favor "free thought" and "open debate" and other politically destructive counter-revolutionary activities.
It's best for the masses to learn as early as possible in their education that the politically correct versions of information are best for both them and the general welfare.
Prohibit, with state-mandated prohibitions, if possible, all counter-revolutionary thought -- it's destructive, divisive and oppressive to minorities and women.

Just think they wish to not have slavery ' White washed'.
The ' slavery really wasn't that bad' crowd will not like.

While it's pretty much universally agreed in Western Civilization today that human slavery is an immoral and unethical institution, do you honestly believe in a sensational portrayal of slavery where every white slaveowner brutalized his slaves through cruelty and sadism? Do you think George Washington did?
Sensationalizing history is a different face of the same coin as whitewashing it.
