Children Wearing Masks All Day, the Unintended Consequences
A Group Of Parents Sent Their Kids' Face Masks To A Lab For Analysis. Here's What They Found

quote:

Gainesville, FL (June 16, 2021) – A group of parents in Gainesville, FL, concerned about potential harms from masks, submitted six face masks to a lab for analysis. The resulting report found that five masks were contaminated with bacteria, parasites, and fungi, including three with dangerous pathogenic and pneumonia-causing bacteria. No viruses were detected on the masks, although the test is capable of detecting viruses.

The analysis detected the following 11 alarmingly dangerous pathogens on the masks:

• Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumonia)

• Mycobacterium tuberculosis (tuberculosis)

• Neisseria meningitidis (meningitis, sepsis)

• Acanthamoeba polyphaga (keratitis and granulomatous amebic encephalitis)

• Acinetobacter baumanni (pneumonia, blood stream infections, meningitis, UTIs— resistant to antibiotics)

• Escherichia coli (food poisoning)

• Borrelia burgdorferi (causes Lyme disease)

• Corynebacterium diphtheriae (diphtheria)

• Legionella pneumophila (Legionnaires' disease)

• Staphylococcus pyogenes serotype M3 (severe infections—high morbidity rates)

• Staphylococcus aureus (meningitis, sepsis)

Half of the masks were contaminated with one or more strains of pneumonia-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with one or more strains of meningitis-causing bacteria. One-third were contaminated with dangerous, antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens. In addition, less dangerous pathogens were identified, including pathogens that can cause fever, ulcers, acne, yeast infections, strep throat, periodontal disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and more.

The face masks studied were new or freshly-laundered before wearing and had been worn for 5 to 8 hours, most during in-person schooling by children aged 6 through 11. One was worn by an adult. A t-shirt worn by one of the children at school and unworn masks were tested as controls. No pathogens were found on the controls. Proteins found on the t-shirt, for example, are not pathogenic to humans and are commonly found in hair, skin, and soil.

A parent who participated in the study, Ms. Amanda Donoho, commented that this small sample points to a need for more research: “We need to know what we are putting on the faces of our children each day. Masks provide a warm, moist environment for bacteria to grow.”

These local parents contracted with the lab because they were concerned about the potential of contaminants on masks that their children were forced to wear all day at school, taking them on and off, setting them on various surfaces, wearing them in the bathroom, etc. This prompted them to send the masks to the University of Florida’s Mass Spectrometry Research and Education Center for analysis.

I'm sure the Teachers Unions will come out and insist that the mandate for masks in schools be dropped immediately based on this data.

You don't wear a mask for your safety, you wear one for mine.

this is probably more an issue of parents not washing their kid's masks

I’ve said from the start, not only do they not prevent much of anything, but they are germ vectors to boot.

The progs like them because it shows them who has bent the knee to the state.

That piece of Hanes underwear people are wearing on their faces is not doing anything. It's ridiculous.

Or using single use masks repeatedly.

I’d be interested in seeing a study of why students were out sick during the in-person return to school during COVID-19. We had exceptionally high attendance even with kids being quarantined due to positive COVID contacts once we returned. And very few incidences of flu, cold, etc.

The entire medical community knows this and still went along with it.

I wonder if all of the above are ingested on a regular basis but at such small quantity that our immune systems squash them with the quickness.

They're not. Left wingers gleefully kill their own babies and brag about. Killing the children of others would hardly give them pause

I haven't worn a mask since late March, about a week and a half after getting my second vaccine. Since they lifted the mask requirements, I haven't gone anywhere that required one. If I do, I have no problem wearing one (actually I don't even carry it around, I probably should keep it around just in case).

But from what I read, cloth mask reduces the droplets for we all release by 30 to 40%. And it also prevents droplets from spreading as far. Like with anything else, I think you just have to look at the risk and reward.

At schools, just because kids are all close to each other, they are just playing it safe, but I can't imagine mask will be required when they go back in the fall. But the thing I don't understand is.... How did wearing a mask become such a big deal? For over a year people have put so much energy into arguing about a fricking mask.

Had the same thoughts/skepticism, but they did state this in OP's post.

quote:

So, sounds like the masks were washed or new; then the kids wore them for an extended period, then it was sent to the lab. So, the issue of wearing them for a week straight then testing would not be the issue here.

In the article it says the masks were all washed before the kids wore them.
