It is a constant rumble from all the fireworks in the city and the shows in the suburbs.

Entire horizon is flashing.

I live in BR and so far it's a pretty quiet evening by our usual standards.

Don't hear anything here. Nearest neighbor is about a mile or two away.

It is surprisingly quiet right now. A little too quiet.

The first thing you'll know is whistles will be coming from everywhere... then the mortars will start.

Our street is full of blue hairs. I'm pretty sure I caught one taking a picture with their cell phone (with the flash from 300 plus feet away, lol). I think they're pissed.

Just did our 20 minutes of boom booms. Now I can enjoy the crying and moaning by the folks on facebook in the neighborhood.

97% of my neighbors are alwaysss out of town for holidays. Except for the young couple down the street throwing a good ole fashioned shite show party from the sounds of it. As the wife is also out of town it’s crossed my mind to take tomorrow off work and forcefully insert myself into their revelry

I have a former police K9 and it's sad to watch all her instincts and training give her such anxiety during fireworks. She's just dying to go attack and defend, to the point that she's miserable in her own skin. She's just pacing and whimpering and tapping on the back door constantly, she wants to go fight it so bad.

I made the mistake of letting her out in the back yard last year, and she literally made herself sick from sprinting from one side of the yard to the other trying to get to all the "booms" coming from all angles. Even after she got sick, her obsession and training kept her anxious and sprinting around. I had to go out and literally wrangle her, scoop her up, and carry all 85lbs of her inside like a baby.

I also have her littermate brother who was not a police K9 but is quite a bit larger and more intimidating looking. He has the same anxiety but is a lot more aloof about it. His idea of "safety" is to sit his 96 pound arse on my 5ft tall wife and cower all night

I wish I could explain it to them that we aren't in any danger, especially her. She just wants to keep us safe so bad, it goes against everything she's ever known and been taught to chill out at times like this
