Fell out of the bed of a truck going down an asphalt road when I was 15. Landed on my head. Darn near killed me. Another time I was crossing the old Mississippi River Bridge in a driving rain storm. My wiper blade came off and I couldn’t see a thing. It’s a two lane, and I don’t know how I didn’t have a head on collision?

Hit by a car riding my bike when I was 12. Flew about 50 feet through the air. While I was airborne my only thought was “if you land on your head you’re dead”. So I managed to somersault over and land on my feet. Broke one foot and got chewed up pretty good by the pavement after, but survived

Why? I wanna hear it.

P.S. I was almost burned alive in a rollover on a hot summer's day 15 miles behind a locked gate on land (and gravel roads) owned by a large timber company.

Unguided rafting trip in Colorado, attempted to raft the Crystal River outside of Marble. We flipped trying to avoid a tree that had fallen over 3/4 of the river.

I had one hand on the tree and another on the upside down raft. Tried to hold onto both but the current pulled me under the trunk, lucky I didn't get stuck and drown. Even luckier is when we flipped. If we had kept going we would would have gone through a section called the meat grinder. Last unguided rafting trip I ever plan on going on.

Too many to count but the one that haunts me the most was a sniper took a shot at me in the gun turret of my vehicle. I felt the wind of the round on my ear it was so close. It struck the hatch I was leaning against and took a chunk out of it. I experienced alot over there but that is the shite that keeps me up at night on a regular basis. So close to pink mist . It also took me a few seconds to realize what was happening he could have easily taken a second shot. Never determined where it came from. That was 15 years ago and I think about it almost daily.

Also, had an IED go off right under me and the sandbags we put on the floorboard kept anything from penetrating. Got knocked out and tossed but no shrapnel or missing limbs etc.

Also was taking a shite in the middle of the night when mortar attack started. I was midway giving birth to an MRE baby when the first round hit. I just put my head down and kept shitting. I was about 25 yards from cover. No flak or helmet. Just my muddy arse and a pack of baby wipes.

I was crossing the road one time and a car stopped to let me walk across. Right as I got in front of the car another car slammed into the back of the stopped car and I had to dive out of the way to not get hit.

Got clipped by an 18 wheeler gravel truck. Stopped at a red light. Gravel truck locked up and let off the brakes right before he hit me and tried to go around me in the left turn lane. When I heard the tires locked up and I looked up in my rear view and see that truck sliding for me, it was oh $hit!!

Pulled out in front of a car by LSU and got T boned. My fault. Car hit front fender. Glad I didn’t pull out quicker or it would have hit the cab. Totaled my truck that survived the gravel truck incident.

Was told by two doctors to get my shite together and had less then 6 months. Told those two doctors to get me back on my feet and they are both fired. That was about 6 years ago.

Monday, was told I have ALS. No problems back in Jan of this year. Now have to use a walker to get around. Only good thing, this is moving fast.

Thug in a home invasion, after shooting and killing his roommate through the bathroom door, put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. Hi-Pert had a failure to fire.

Lucky bastard.

Lost an infant son many years ago. Drank from sun up, while running a business until I went to bed for almost two years. Had a pistol in my my mouth one evening and thankfully my wife got the better of me.

Either the time I was young and dumb and running my R6 with a guy on a gsx 1000 at 145 mph on hwy 21 splitting two way traffic for 15 miles, which to this day 15 years later is still the biggest adrenaline rush I've ever had but also looking back was one of the dumbest things I've ever done, or when my go devil caught a random 4 foot wave from the side in the dead center of lake maurepas and it knocked the tiller out of my hand swnding 2 of my best friends overboard and having the boat fill with water to within a 1/2 inch of the top of the transom. The life jackets were in a hard to get place and I nearly ran over those two with the prop. If they hadn't been able to get to the bow and hang on we woulda sunk and had a 5 mile swim to shore. The bike stuff was just one more thing on a long list of stupid shite I did while I had it.

Eta also rolled my mr2 spyder 2.5 times and hit a tree upside down 8 feet off the ground. The whole convertible top was crushed to seat level except a 14x14 inch piece where my head was. Walked away without a scratch. After reconsideration this is actually the closest I came

Bagram Airfield. Was scheduled to help out with a meeting with some ANA and other NATO guys for some kind of future medical training and other stuff. Last minute was reassigned to do something else.

ANA guy blew himself and killed 2 of my sergeants that I would have been right next too. That messed with my head for a while.

Lost control of my road bike going down roan mountain at 65mph when I overcooked a sharp turn. I swung wide into the other lane and if a vehicle had been coming around that bend I would be dead (there wasn't) but there was also a sheer cliff that I barely managed to thread the edge of the road on for what seemed like an eternity with dirt and rocks going everywhere until I got it back under control. I can still remember the feeling that I wasn't sure whether I was going to live or die like it was yesterday. They're was no time to panic but every single cell in my body was focusing on the front wheel and willing it back onto the road.

Prior to that I was incredibly reckless on descents but after that I haven't been able to let it go like that again.
