Why would you call a priest to do that? Just get someone to speak on the behalf of the deceased. You know what you’re getting into when you call a religious leader, so why ask them to speak at such an occassion? Just call on a friend who is a good public speaker.
Either you’re a troll or unbelievably dense.

This.....this is exactly what my wife's family did when her cousin committed suicide. The priest basically just did the rights of burial....he gave no homily the family did a couple of speeches/eulogies from the brother and an uncle.
The parents couldn't do anything themselves because they knew they basically murdered their son. The dad had turned off gay and was shacked up with a dude younger than his son. The mom and his brother and sister had disowned the dad. He accepted the dad but beat himself up greatly because it was basically like his mom and siblings disowned him.
Now here is a shite kicker.....after the funeral the mom and dad reconciled and now the dad is magically not gay and they are back together....it's back to one big happy family. I'm sure the next blow up is imminent.

You’re just dishonest. Therein lies the problem with your reluctance to accept this. You want to call a priest and expect him not to speak about the sin because you dont want to hear it.
DONT CALL A PRIEST.

True. Could have not said anything at all about the kid going to heaven. But if asked then it is a major sin all Christians believe in.
For now. If it keeps becoming more mainstream then maybe a new edition will get released again and it no longer is a “major” sin

I’m not dishonest. You’re just cold. I’ve dealt with a suicide. We had a Catholic burial and everything. Not one time did the preist say he could be denied heaven. He gave a great ceremony and showed absolute reverance. He didn’t go up there and shout fire and brimstone. If you can’t understand why it’s not appropriate to say things like that, you need to evaluate yourself.

Pretty damn despicable, imho. Part of the priest's responsibility during a service is to give comfort to the deceased's grieving family and friends. He didn't have to make a point of suicide and its afterlife implications during the kid's funeral service. Just what good did that accomplish?

Religious people legitimately can't handle the truth

Suicide is a grave sin. That priest was doing his job the right way.
Compassion is telling the truth to help others avoid making the same mistake. Obviously the priest does not want others to do the same thing. Sounds like his sermon was a warning. If the sermon helps prevent someone else from taking their life, then the boys death lead to saving someone else.
People need to know the truth.

How can a person kill themselves at their own funeral?

Do you know the truth?

Of course not.
But I don't tell families that their child is destined to burn for the rest of eternity while they're mortified at their death.
That seems incredibly cruel to me.

Please show me in the Bible where suicide condemns one to hell.

Well, so did Jesus himself... entirely different thread though.
