Which he failed to do.

He said that suicide is wrong in the eyes of the Church and that God was merciful. What part of that is untrue?

If the parents had spent more time in church, they wouldn't have to guess at which priest will say their son's funeral. The priest would know the family and possibly have avoided the situation in the first place.

How many Hail Mary's do you have to say after kicking a priest's arse?

If you think really really hard you might be able to figure out that it's possible to lie or be otherwise dishonest in life outside of the eulogy he gave.

You brought it up first as if it makes your opinion more valid.

Good for you. That doesn't justify your behavior in this thread though.

Here’s a link to the full homily.

LINK

It’s not at all as harsh as some are making it out to be, in my opinion.

Wow. I stayed out of this thread but I was waiting for some serious and downright inconsiderate points. That was about as tasteful and well-thought out of a homily on suicide.

Wow. Completely fake news that this was bad.

That was a great message and one of the better messages about suicide I have ever heard.

"Having said that, I think that we must not call what is bad good, what is wrong
right. Because we are Christians, we must say what we know is the truth – that taking
your own life is against God who made us and against everyone who loves us. Our
lives are not our own. They are not ours to do with as we please. God gave us life, and
we are to be good stewards of that gift for as long as God permits."

Who said the suicide was "good" or that it was "right" as the priest said? Also, although I don't agree with suicide, this priest basically says people don't have free will.

I don't know that there is any easy way to give a homily after a suicide, but it seems the priest barely spoke of the deceased. It seemed quite impersonal.

Most Rite of Christian Burials in the Catholic Church are like this. The homily isn’t a eulogy.
