That's in the poorer areas of Jamaica.
Can you imagine all those pieces of corrugated tin roofs flying around at 80mph

90 years from now our great great grandkids will be on an O-T Lounge Hurricane thread and say the same thing about Meilssa's data

Only comparable storm I know of was Maria in Puerto Rico which made landfall as a Cat 4. Almost 3,000 deaths on the island of PR alone, infrastructure still hasn’t recovered to this day, and PR has a much higher GDP and more resilient infrastructure system than Jamaica to begin with. This storm is going to be absolutely catastrophic for Jamaica and it would be a miracle from God if there aren’t several thousand deaths from this to say nothing of the property/infrastructure damage.

The comedian Ron White said it best when talking about hurricanes in one of his shows. He said "It's not THAT the wind is blowing, it's WHAT the wind is blowing".

Truer words were never spoken. A fast moving piece of 28 gauge tin will decapitate a person with swiftness if it hits them right.

Probably if we use excess death studies years after the fact instead of counting bodies/missing persons like we've done for nearly every other hurricane in modern history

During the April 3, 1974 Super Outbreak in north Alabama my Pops worked with a guy who had to flee to a ditch with his wife. She lifted her head to look up and was almost fully decapitated by a piece of tin. It pretty much destroyed him mentally and he never returned to work.

As expected, the AI videos and pictures are just rampant right now. I haven't looked at the "For You" feed on Xwitter, but there are a lot of fake videos, and it is apparently worse on TikTok.

I can't imagine seeing a loved one get taken out like that. The nightmares would likely haunt me till the day I die.
