Not sure if already posted. It's a facebook reel post from a meteorologist (but worth the view)

I guess I'm not fazed by the stuff I'm seeing because I have seen it all before.
Now Jamaica, I don't think they have had a direct hit since the 80s. So, this is new for a lot of people there.

Ooops. Sorry, didn't see your post.
Wild? Absolutely, it it's real?
I think it is, but remember the post I made of the sharks riding the storm surge into the streets?
Well, the situation in that little town is much worse now.
There are mermaids riding on the back of the sharks
Pretty soon the sharks will have laser beams on their heads

241 mph wind gust is something that will catch your attention if you are sitting in Jamica right now.
An EF5 tornado has wind speeds over 200mph for comparison
Anything taking gusts that high will be gone. I don’t mean roofs blown off or house collapsed, it will be gone. Nothing but a concrete slab left

Don’t forget mud and debris. It’s a mountainous island. Mudslides and washed out roads will come into play for relief workers. There will be a need for mule teams.

I wonder if the people from Mandeville, Jamaica are as snobby as the people from Mandeville, LA
Carefull, Baw. Mentioning Mandeville in Jamaica brings the DVQ's out in force. I guess they think it somehow tarnishes their tierra's.

A coworker of mine's friends from Mobile are getting married there late December. What are the odds that this wedding happens? I think Half Moon Bay is the destination.

Sweet. Please Let me know when you hear from them.
They’re in the eye right now. They must be on generator power, and the resort WiFi is Starlink, so we’re still texting with them. They said the airs out, but all good otherwise.

So, she's back over water and heading for Cuba.
How do we see what is happening in Cuba?
Are they preparing for this?
I'm clearly no social media expert.
Do they even have social media and public internet in Cuba?

Anybody have a "Peak Wind Gust" recorded over Jamaica??
Had found Black River 84mph sustained / 115 MPH Wind GUST
Forecast had called for 130-145mph wind
Hurricane Michael broke Tyndall AFB anemometer @ 137mph
Strories my Dad tell me as a kid before i was born ; abt Camille breaking the Wind gauge at 200+ mph gust

quote:Thats not a consistent 185. It's an estimate of a one minute max sustained wind. They dont know how often that occurs and precisely where like with a tornado.
That's an EF4 for hours. Holy shite
