They’re an island obviously unlike us here in the states.

If we have a storm in Louisiana, shite can be here asap from Texas or Alabama. It’s not that easy I would assume in Jamaica.

Nor anymore apparently. None of the live streams posted above are working for me now.

It's not as easy but Jamaica has stockpiles and they bring it in from elsewhere by ship and plane. CARILEC can act as mutual aid and facilitate bringing in utilities from other Caribbean nations. The Jamaican government will receive financial aid and be able to purchase the supplies and manpower to get it done.

Looks like a dropsonde measured 172 kts (198 mph) at the surface. Of course this is unofficial until the next NHC advisory.

Remember that drops measure instantaneous wind and not sustained.

Planes & helicopters do exist too. It’s not like they’ll have to wait a few days for a boat to show up.

They all come back up at once like they’re using the same dialup connection.

Yeah. Thanks for clarifying. I saw the image posted that showed that drop supported 158 knots at surface which is right about the official 185 mph.

I guess the Montego Bay airport stopped reporting wind speed. It would be nice to see what they are getting now.

Also: are they a corrupt government or will they really help their people??

They have bandits running their city. Enclaves of drug dealers they are hesitant to even go into. And they are outgunned........as a government.
