He's on the damn coast right at the landfall point. I know he was in the worst of Dorian in Bahamas and a few others and knows what he's doing. At least the elevation increases enough that he doesn't have to worry about surge.

That Treasure Beach live cam is probably going to be the best one in terms of being in the northern/eastern eyewall where the worst wind will be. Hopefully it holds up.

130mph already looks like a bomb went off. I can’t fathom 185.

We could've been having an entirely different conversation going into the weekend if not for this cold front.

Honestly the jog due north is the best case scenario for the whole arse island.

Montego Bay will get the worse but it misses Kingston by a LOT

Jamaica has structures built to withstand powerful hurricanes and has been hit by Gilbert, Ivan, and Dean and has come back every time. Will it cause damage? Yes. Maim and kill? Yes. But this level of doomposting is ridiculous. There will be localized catastrophic damage.

ETA: It'll be far worse if it continues on this northern wobble towards Montego Bay, though, I'll admit that.

It is a very small swath of intense wind. And the large population centers will be spared the worst. Hopefully passes at least 30 miles east of Montego though

Dude on the weather channel says there might be evidence of a 200mph reading, waiting for confirmation

Gonna mess up a lot of of the tourism related economy though, I think many of the high end resorts are right in that area.
