My wife has a first cousin down there on her honeymoon and they’re about to ride it out at a resort around Oyster Bay.

My arse would be moving to Kingston if I was on the western end of the island.

If someone is getting married at a resort in Jamacia at the end of November, is it likely that the wedding will not be able to happen in Jamacia?

Jamaica's infrastructure is about to be devastated and will be for months, so yeah, highly unlikely any weddings will be happening in Jamaica this November...

What are changes this moves just west of island then hooks NE and slams Cuba without weakening much due to missing mountains in Jamaica?

This is a small diameter hurricane, can it shoot the gap?

Looks like it’s going right at it.

What a dumb question. It is about to get run over by a Cat 5.

Anybody's guess at this point but if she boot scoots around the western tip of Jamaica then takes the projected NNE path the southeast part of Cuba is a mountain range that would knock the wind out of her sails and protect the Bahamas

Those views are really beautiful. You sort of forget for a moment what a destructive monster they’re inside of.

Depends on where the venue is located.
Melissa is an incredibly impressive storm from a meteorological point of view but her cone of destruction & devastation is actually quite narrow.

It just blows my mind that they go fly a plane through that thing. And I get the physics and all that good stuff about how they can do it but still, willingly going into a cat 5 hurricane in any vehicle for any reason just seems like absurdity

Oh! Sweet Baby Jesus!
We have two recon planes monitoring Melissa and now the extrapolated flight level data is estimating 902.8mb!!
This is contradicted by preliminary dropsonde data indicating 2-3 points higher but the dropsonde data is still two points lower than the previous flight.
Will have to wait and see how the NHC calls this one
Melissa ain't slowing down

I remember after Laura there was a noticeable difference in damage driving east on i10. Jennings had minimal structural damage compared to Westlake and Lake Charles and is only 30 mins away.

Yep. That's the forecast over the four days Melissa will take to get out of the area.
