Will your insurance even payout considering you enabled this?
As long as it was stolen and you weren't actively trying to get it stolen, yep. There's no "you're an idiot" clauses in most decent auto insurance policies.

I have a reed switch in my work van. If I don't have a magnet in my cupholder the engine won't start.
When I get bored I come up with crap to modify the work van.
It's the door switch four a ge washer, I have the power to the starter relay running through it.
I can leave the keys in the ignition and all.
I have an arduino system I'm putting together for remote start and kill.
My car has three pedals. It's practically unstealable.

I had a battery kill switch that needed it’s own “key” to start or run anything electrical. More to keep people from turning my headlights on and killing my battery than theft, but worked just as good.
ETA It was in an old Jeep with no top or doors.

Its a covered loss if you had comprehensive coverage less your deductible. The tow and storage cost is part of your claim.
If you have rental reimbursemetn under the policy it would cover your rental costs while the reapiras are being made. You may have a daily limit on the rental coverage .

My brother got lucky. The guys that stole his car wrapped it around a tree, rooftop first.
That usually makes the perps easy to find

I'm with you.
Says a whole lot about this society that having to lock your vehicle in your own driveway is accepted as normal.
Theft should be punished according to hammurabi code.

Same thing happened to me when I was around 19. Walked out of the gym, said to buddy looks like my car was stolen. About an hour after getting the police report filed, they had found the car, wrecked by a couple of kids. The kids were 14 and 15 and still sitting in the car when the police showed up.

I did. Guess I overestimated the safety of my neighborhood and driveway.
Well then pay the $400 because you’re a fricking retard. How can anyone leave their keys in their vehicle?

I have also thought of a smoke screen only to use on guys who "roll coal".
My big game changer I'll working on is an inflatable collapsible "tube" that comes out four feet in front of the vehicle, to use when inching across traffic or trying to cross Bourbon st.

A car salesman friend of his says the number one way thieves steal cars is because dumb dumbs leave the keys in the car. Don't do that, next time. Lesson learned.

How do you get in your house without keys?
He probably leaves the house door unlocked too ‘cause he lives in one of those mythical good neighborhoods immune to crime.
Might as well, because if he’s leaving the keys in the car and they have a house key on the key ring, the thieves can get into his house anyway.

Quit being a poor and get you a car with automatic start and key-less entry. My key hasn't left my pocket in years while driving.
Posted on 7/22/18 at 11:17 pm to Jcorye1
Eh... leaving the keys in your car in baton rouge seems about as trying to have it stolen as possible
Posted on 7/23/18 at 12:43 am to PurpleandGold Motown
Geez. I can’t imagine leaving my keys in the car. Sorry, but you better pick it up or you’ll owe more.
