I drive my manual above 5k rpm all of the time. The car just feels better between 4.5k and the limiter, around 6.5. Letting off the gas in traffic and using the engine break to shift weight forward really improves steering feel. To be able to get back on it without the car having to figure out gear just gives a bit of confidence I otherwise wouldn’t have. I probably drive a bit crazier than most people.

Auto + turbo just isn’t as pleasing as manual + natural to me. If I had a Porsche it would be different...but I don’t.

dumped a 3yo Samsung $2500 washer and drier for that reason. Replaced it with SpeedQueen basic set.
THE BEST DECISION EVER!!!
I don’t want appliances that are “smart”...
Really? A freaking Wi-Fi faucet?

Do you believe the market has everything it wants and wants everything it has?

My 2016 tundra SR5 has power windows and Xm radio, other than that it is little different from my 1969 GMC which was a big part of its appeal to me. And yes, there are still washers and dryers that have both hung but a timer knob and a on/off switch.

While I’m at it, I would like an old school dryer without all of the frills (sensor dry, auto settings). I just want to turn a knob and let it go. I suppose I’d like a better chime than the old school obnoxious buzz/clank; but I would even take that.

Here you go on the dryer. This is their old regular model from 20 years ago.

Comes with a five year factory parts and labor warranty too.

A lot of this stuff is driven by government imposed regulations, not “the market.” Clothes washers suck (and necessitate more computer regulating shite) because stupid regulations have forced them to limit water use.

Yeah I wasn't going to say it because it's anecdotal, but I don't think I've ever had a power window fail, but I had an '02 Dakota with manual windows that broke.
I had a 96 Avenger the power windows (plural) failed. They had plastic gear and plastic strip and one the gear worn down until had missing teeth, the other window the strip wore out and the cross pieces the gear teeth were supposed to catch broke.

Toyota has somehow found a way to make no investments or updates to their truck, continually raise sale prices, and somehow it works out in their favor. They are great trucks, but these days everyone makes a great truck.

It also has a ton of computer stuff. Just as much as everyone else. Lift it and you might get a VSC light and limp mode. I bet your 69 GMC doesn’t care if you lift it or not.

BTW, pics of GMC? I’m a fan.

I realize my Tundra is infested with digital tech under the hood, I should have been specific that it was the lack of interior/exterior electronic gadgetry that I was referring to. Sadly I know longer have the 69 GMC.

I’m not a fan of the super modern shite that took place of my radio. Hell, I still like to throw in a CD from time to time.

I mean how lazy do you have to be to avoid rolling a fricking window down?

Recently, at a family gathering, my 18-year-old nephew asked us why do old people say "roll down the window" instead of "put down the window" in a car. He has never been in a car without electric windows.

Makes me realize I'm going to have some really boring "back in my day" stories when I'm actually old.
