My wife has a '19 Traverse LT3 with that 3.6 liter V6 that cranks out 310 HP. It's got some get up and go. It also has more inside room than a Tahoe, unfortunately, though it has a nice ride, it's not quite as nice as a Tahoe.

The Traverse is massive, and the second gen corrected a lot of the quality issues with the first gen. The third gen is undoubtedly even better.

The big, smooth V6 motors are going away due to emissions in the new models though. That's why the new Highlander doesn't have a V6 after 2023. I don't like that, but it's just a reality brought to us by our friends in the federal government.

Fortunately the new turbo motor in the 2025 Traverse has been very good in the full sized pickups for 4-5 years now. Unfortunately it sounds like a turbo 4 cylinder.

And they'll make you pay a Tahoe price for it.

Tell her to look at the Hyundai Pallisade.

traverse

My wife has an older body style one and it has been a solid and reliable vehicle. A few sensor replacements at 50,000 miles and regular maintenance.

I have never bought a first year new model with a new engine design, so I cant help you there. A lot of people share the same reservations as you.

I tried to talk my wife out of buying one( we weren't married yet) and she wouldn't listen. She loves it. I don't necessarily hate it, but for how much Jeeps get hate, I preferred her Grand Cherokee. The one thing I absolutely do hate is the infotainment system. Basically unusable without Android Auto or Carplay.

Have owned one for 4 years, 75k miles thus far. It is the single best vehicle I've owned. My wife keeps asking me to get a new vehicle so she can have my Telluride as well. Highly recommended

The OT is OBSESSED with the Telluride.

The OT has a weird obsession with Telluride’s, the 30A and Taylor Swift. To not care about what others think, the OT sure cares a lot about telling others what it thinks about these three topics.

Wife has a Santa Fe that guzzles oil. I will never buy another Korean automobile of any kind. Take from that what you will.

We had the 2023 SX and just upgraded last week to the 2024 SX X-Line AWD

It's loaded out with all sorts of shite, but it's hard to mentally grasp paying 50k for a KIA

I wouldn’t buy Kia or Hyundai. You wonder why they offer those warranties? My daughter had 2, 1 brand new and 1 relatively new, and both had issues. It Kia is anything like Hyundai to deal with in warranty repairs, run. Reddit had a thread on cars, and these brands were mentioned most often as never to own again.
I think theyve worked hard to real in some of the shite a bit here in the last 3/4 years since the theta engine debacle. I got boned by it but went back because the dealer i bought from offered their own lifetime powertrain warranty complimentary. Promised me if anything like it happened again they would cover it no questions asked as long as i stayed on top of oil changes.

My mom got one of the "first" Tellurides probably 4 years or so ago now.

She loves it and everyone has liked everything about it. She doesn't drive it a ton (27k miles I think when I was there last) so she isn't putting much strain on it. She used to have a suburban so this gives her most of the same room and is comfortable.

No issues on her end at all

My wife has a 2021 SX with around 75,000 miles on it. We haven't had any problems at all besides a tornado passing at her work and busting the windshields and scratching the paint, but no problems mechanically though. I'm even considering taking it over when she gets a new vehicle and trading in my Ram. Just because there's nothing wrong with it and we'll probably get more for my truck. I am happy we got the one before they switched the logo cause I think the new one looks dumb.

The outgoing model Traverse is a good vehicle as well. The Mrs has not taken the best care of hers and it's been problem free. It's not particularly exciting but it drives well, is comfortable, and is very functional. Huge inside. Not winning any beauty contests though. The upcoming Traverse looks like a huge upgrade.

We are looking for a new family car and have looked at plenty of options. We are between the Kia Telluride and the new Traverse, when that comes out. My wife (no pics) likes the traverse because it resembles a mini Tahoe, but I’m skeptical because it’s a brand new engine that Chevy is bringing to the table. Anyone had good/bad experiences with the newer Tellurides?

I've heard nothing but good things about the Telluride. Almost bought one a few years ago but the mark-ups were crazy and our Subaru Ascent that we went with was a better deal and was more comfortable to drive for my wife.

So I would recommend looking at an Ascent and also take a look at the Toyota Grand Highlander if y'all are willing to branch out a bit.
