We are looking for a new family car and have looked at plenty of options. We are between the Kia Telluride and the new Traverse, when that comes out. My wife (no pics) likes the traverse because it resembles a mini Tahoe, but I’m skeptical because it’s a brand new engine that Chevy is bringing to the table. Anyone had good/bad experiences with the newer Tellurides?

You’ve come to the right place. The OT is OBSESSED with the Telluride.

Kia has come a long way in quality over the past few years and honestly, the Telluride just looks way nicer than a Traverse in my opinion.

Get a Toyota, I don't care if you asked about the telluride. Get a Toyota.

-The OT

On a serious note, they are good vehicles, we had one for a while it just didn't have enough room for us. Once the third row is up there's not a lot of storage. Fun to drive, comfortable.

Kia made a station wagon that looked sort of like a Land Rover with none of the capability and a bit better (though still not great) reliability, and proceeded to print money. They're everywhere now, so they don't really stand out visually. People who have them seem to like them, though, and they are just a good a station wagon as most of the others. Probably better than a Chevy.

Well, it was made the Kia corporation in 2011 as a concept vehicle.

It garnered so much praise that Kia’s very own Luk Vonoklotozwaa able to put the finishing touches on the facial design to give it that sleek yet luxurious feel to it.

Telluride in Albanian tongue means “The goddesses butthole”. Kia’s CFO Alexander Coytroitzn has a Ph.D IN Linguistics and that’s what really drove home the name you see now.

Telluride is freaking loaded with features at a reasonable price with the best warranty in the business and way better than Toyota. Are they as reliable as Toyota? Probably not but they do warranty longer.

Basic
Kia 5yr/60000
Toyota 3yr/36000

Powertrain
Kia 10yr/100000
Toyota 5yr/60000

The Telluride is a good reliable vehicle and KIA has a fine tuned service and customer experience. Nothing should cause you to hesitate.

We didnt have good luck with our Traverse. Transmission rebuild at 80k miles, exhaust started falling apart at 100k miles, various small sensor issues, etc. Was a 2019 and never felt reliable enough for me to let my wife drive further than 30 miles.

However, i think all the major brands are pretty junky these days. Pick the one that best fits your needs and budget and roll with it.

My 21 year old Toyota has just under 250,000 miles on it, and has never required anything that would fall under warranty work (Basic or Powertrain)...is there anything that gets less use than a Toyota Powertrain Warranty?

I have a 2023 SX-P X-Pro. Bought it with 12 miles and have put close to 27k on it in the last year.

It’s been by far my favorite vehicle to drive and ride in. All the drive assist features makes it pretty much drive itself. Tech inside is awesome and the warranty is the best feature of all.

Storage space, Tahoe is “larger” but I can get more in the Telluride than the Tahoe, second and third rows are also more comfortable than a Tahoe.
