Transferring company stocks

Posted by Tiger328 on 8/18/26 at 1:55 pm
My wife works for a company that is offering an ESPP. They have a great match that makes it worth it. The stocks go to “Shareworks” where she can either sell directly to cash out, or do a direct transfer into a brokerage account. In July, we transferred all her shares (about 85) over to her account in E*Trade. All the shares transferred over, but it’s showing a cost basis of $0. Due to that, it’s showing a ridiculous amount of unrealized gains. In reality, the stock is actually about even+/- a few $ since the transfer when stocks were acquired. Anyone experienced that before?
I had horrible stickers in my yard this spring. Both the very painful ones, and the burrs that stick to everything. I remember someone telling me to put some stuff out in October or whatever. But as we near that time, I don’t want to miss that window. My yard was absolutely miserable
My stihl weedeater is compatible with the 250 mm 3 blade brush knife and I’m considering buying to cut down some cattails and other brush in my ditch. The string just isn’t working. Anyone tried this and is it worth the $40, plus the conversion kit needed for a metal blade?

Thanks for all tips. It’s chain driven. It does seem to slam down kinda hard when it closes

Garage Door Question

I will try to word this as best as I can to visualize for you. But every so often, and now happening more frequently, my garage door won’t open when I press the button. The motor on the opener will hum. I can then walk over and pull the string for the manual lift I’m assuming, and it releases so much tension and pops the door free, and then I’m able to push the button and it opens. I have a video on my phone but don’t know how to show that

What Baits are You Using Near Rigolets?

Heading out to the Rigolets and fishing Lake Catherine this weekend. What artificials are you using to be successful?
Dr Steve must have a bad memory with a Bertha the way he keeps ripping her apart

The LP Methheads that did mine about that size for $3k but they formed it and put directly on grass and were MIA for about 3 days after they tore up my yard so I don’t recommend them or going that cheap

re: How would you manage this money?

Her money goes into “Shareworks” and we can either cash out to bank account, or send to a brokerage as a direct transfer up to 4 times a year. So our thought was to do that transfer once a quarter. So no stocks have actually been sold just yet, just transferred to a brokerage that we can actually manage ourselves

How would you manage this money?

My wife started a job where she can contribute 10% of her salary to an ESPP, and they match 50% of that. So essentially, she gets a 5% bonus that goes to her company stock. The stock doesn’t move around much, been pretty stable the last few years. I’ve considered we just cash it out once a quarter and right now, use that to pay off her car in the next year due to a 6% interest rate, then start converting it to SPY and QQQ type stocks. Thoughts or advice?
Disco, you are not RDS, Duke, or Dr Steve (Boat), so nobody is going to listen to you in this thread
We are flying round trip to Portland in October-Main Cabin on delta. On Monday, tickets were $428, as they were all weekend. On Tuesday, they were $438. So I logged in on Wednesday and said I’d buy if it got to $450. Well it went to $579 instead. Today, the same itinerary is $660. Why does it jump up so much? My itinerary is MSY-ATL-PDX then PDX-LAX-MSY. Glad I jumped in when I did but it doesn’t make sense
We decided we’re gonna make it easy. Land in Portland and drive out to the coast for 2-3 days. Then drive inland to bend and stay there the rest of the trip and go see various things with Bend as our base camp. And MAYBE catch Mt Hood our last day back driving to Portland before flying out the next morning
He would be young enough to be lap infant but quite a few people have advised since it’s a long flight day from New Orleans to buy his own seat
Thanks! Yes dead set on delta just cause I have so many miles and perks from work trips. I think we will just wind up getting into Bend and staying there and just doing little day trips here and there and instead of money saving, think of smart flight times instead
That’s fair and yes I’m cutting out the California portion. In my head it would work cause it was 6 hours to redwoods, then another 5.5 from redwoods to Bend but yes lots and lots of driving. May just fly into Bend or Portland, and then drive up and fly out of Seattle with stops along the coast, Mt Hood, and Mt Rainier before flying back

We realized we can be a bit more flexible and chat GPT came up with this itinerary. Any thoughts?
Hopefully I can get all those days covered in 5 days. Where do you suggest I fly into and out? I’m open to fly into Seattle, Portland, Redmond (Bend) but plan to fly on Delta as I have a lot of priority with them through work travel

Give me Ideas for an Oregon Vacation

Posted by Tiger328 on 7/7/26 at 11:46 am
I am flying out to Bend, Oregon for a wedding in October. I will be traveling with my wife and 2 year old. The cheapest travel days are Tuesday-Tuesday so looking at what a good itinerary would be. I definitely want to go to Crater Lake, but we love all things outdoors and scenic. What would be a good itinerary, and options to fly in and out, if the wedding festivities are that Friday and Saturday?
