What are best baits for pond fishing?

Posted by Tiger328 on 4/24/26 at 7:49 am
I acquired a .5 acre pond when I moved last summer. Needless to say it needs some management. Algae everywhere, minimal oxygen, no alkalinity, lots of overgrowth on the bank.

Per Louisiana Pond Management, I added lime, I will be adding aeration, and I will begin attacking the algae and overgrowth.

All that to say, I do have plenty of fish. I’ve caught bass (10-12 inch), a few blue gill, a few sacalait, catfish, and green sunfish. When I feed in the evenings, the catfish and turtles attack feed like crazy. I read I need to start catching and pulling the sacalait and sunfish out, as well as reduce catfish if I want to grow my bass population.

What are best baits to achieve this as I have my normal bass lures but need to attack the others

Maybe since Patrick was 0-2 in the count he wanted to give him a fresh start in a new inning. He’s gonna need at bats
Yes it is lol. I got quoted $300 for 3 tons delivered of Ag Lime

Who do you have Life Insurance with?

Posted by Tiger328 on 4/20/26 at 9:40 am
I am 31 years old and have been slacking on getting my own life insurance. I have one through work that’s 5x my salary, however I know I also need to go independent. I reached out to my local insurance broker and he recommended Ethos. I filled out the application and got approved for what I think is a decent amount for a decent price for 20 years, but still just hesitant to hit that confirm button because I know nothing about them. Any advice?
Alec Rock just came all over himself. He’s been calling a Simpson home run for 3 weeks now
I am looking to get fencing installed at my house and had 3 companies come out. One of them came in a good bit cheaper than the others and I want to know if there’s a catch. I had never heard of them but the Facebook page and website looked legitimate

I didn’t have both starting pitchers making it through the 6th after that 1st inning

One could argue that was a very important strikeout lol

How can I reach you? I’d be interested in 4 live oaks and 2 red oaks
How can I get in touch with you? I’m willing to buy a handful of bald cypress from you

What kind of oaks did you say you have? I’d be willing to grab a few
I’m currently using them. Paid $400 for them to come out and do testing of alkalinity, pH, turbidity, they caught a few fish, then wrote up a report on recommendations. They are pricey but I’m not sure what fair market value is. I need to install an aeration fountain which I found one online for $2k and I have all the wiring for it. But they want $850 for 10 gallons of lime, $315 to spray the bank and weed control, and like $2250 a year for keeping it under control via a contract. It’s one of those things I want to do myself but I’m afraid of killing my pond
Lynn telling Ronnie to back up so he can bow to him is such a great response

I appreciate that! And yeah good idea on waiting. We moved in August and want to do so many projects around the house that we plan on staying at forever so really don’t need to rush lol. And regarding oaks I may take you up on that offer for a portion of my layout

CGrand any reservations if I get a bunch of Crepe and Magnolias at 7 gallons? They’ll be lining up my driveway and fence line so I’d like them somewhat established. Everything else I’d Be about 3 gallon. To achieve what I want will ne about 150 trees

So I’ve been reevaluating what I want to do around the property to achieve my goal of privacy. Thinking about planting Crepe Myrtle’s along my driveway/fenceline and doing alternating colors and starting with 15 gallon since they’ll be my main centerpiece. And then along the front doing an alternating of Crepes and Little Gem Magnolias

Thanks! Yeah we just told him we want trees that look nice and give us desired privacy from the road and our surrounding neighbors, but wanted native southern plants. He suggested where to lay them out. I don’t mind purchasing the saplings/seedlings myself.

Would it be okay to water them with my pond water? Because that would be my biggest hindrance but most would be planted within reasonable distance from the pond where a little pump and hose could handle it

This is what was quoted for me. Again, this was simply a walk through conversation because he had the ability to overlay it on my property and show me what types of trees and where to plant them for privacy and aesthetics. I planned on planting myself, just didn’t want to waste money on the wrong trees.
