truly was an accident and he’s had the bad luck of being involved with her that day

As a cop/first responder he knows full well how dangerous the heat here can be in the summer months. Every year there is always a handful of people that die on hiking trails due to heat exhaustion. So what does he do? Bring someone not acclimated to heat here on a difficult hike close to mid day. With no water.

That’s no accident

Definitely some sinister planning buried into that story.

Pun intended.

“We do not know what specific questions were asked” is a hilarious stance. I asked him if he hiked this trail before and he said yes and drew a 3-d map of the area - Very unspecific, perhaps you were confused and he said help me I’m so god damn lost it hurts my dick

I seriously read this whole thing waiting for the bear to enter the picture. So nobody was killed by a bear.

So there is no preliminary or speculative case of death? I mean wouldn't detective be able to identify if she were strangled, stabbed to death, or no visible signs of foul play?

Yea- sounds more like he didn’t expect to really hike far. Not that he planned on killing her on a somewhat populated trail via heat stroke.

This link shows the trail around the top of Camelback Mountain
map with zoom

zoom out to see some of the trails that go up the mountain.

(When searching for this ignore the Camelback Ski trails; that's in another state)

State’s witness #3.

You’ll be behind the coroner and the Uber driver.

Not when it’s over 105 degrees outside in the summer. Most people hike Camelback in the summer either really early in the am or right before it gets dark.

Huh? The OP states he and a group of his friends were there in the morning. They saw the 2 persons of interest along with other third parties on the trail. So it definitely wasn’t isolated. Maybe not as crowded as the fall and winter but people were there.

Agreed that July heat sucks especially when it’s +115.

Also maybe the cop is innocent. He kept going up and she went down. They could have just gotten in a squabble about whether or not to continue on the hike. He wanted to continue but she didn’t. Hence he finished then took the Uber to meet her at the trailhead.

He wasn’t friendly with OP when he passed because they just had the argument. And the inconsistencies in his statement were because he was nervous about getting busted with his concubine.

Just met the girl. She’s struggling and he decides to let her go back down on her own. What a gentleman.
