Could you post a map for those of us unfamiliar with the area
OP came up Echo Canyon Trail. OP's pic is from just to the left of the "E" in Echo Canyon Trail on the pic above. Girl's body was found by one of those houses above the word "Paradise" in the pic up against the base of mountain.
My hypothesis is Cop got to top and was disoriented, climbed down Cholla Trail to the left and Uber'd back to parking lot.
Eta: Unless you have some solid off trail experience and bouldering/climbing skills you are not going to get from the top of Camelback back to the parking lot without following the trail, meaning it would have been difficult/near impossible for Cop to get down the same side he came up without OP seeing him. Most logical explanation is he took the other trail down the back side and caught an Uber.

That is a long romance novel you got there.

That’s why I’m so interested to see where the Uber picked him up.

Probably wanted to have sex with her in what he thought was an isolated place. Place wasn't as isolated as he thought, with other hikers coming up and down. She refused to "go behind that rock" with him and an argument ensued and they separated.

quote:Definitely some suspicious stuff from the dude you posted, but if she truly went back down around the half way point like you stated when they split up and died of this, not sure how that can be pinned on the dude.
Edit: The initial reports called it "heat exhaustion."

Scottsdale isn't a bad place to have a BP at all really. August isn't the best time, though.

I think the guy is just an idiot and she died from the heat. He needs to be hit with something for that kind of negligence though

Neither me, nor any of my 7 friends who were with me remember seeing him come back down the trail. I probably only saw 20 other hikers that day, so I would have remembered seeing him come back down the trail.

I'm convinced that after he proceeded up the mountain past us, he circled back, killed her, dumped her body where it was found (in the backyard of a home at the base of the mountain, which did not appear to be accessible from the mountain side), and then got an Uber back to the bottom of the mountain to try and build an alibi.
if you saw the gal turn around and go back, and you did not see the cop come back down, how could he have gotten past you to catch up with the the girl? And/or if he went down the back side and took an Uber, how could he have caught up with her?

I also failed to mention that Dizdar has a history of lying to authorities. There was an incident a few years ago at a night club. He was off duty and his “friend” got assaulted. Unclear who assaulted the friend. Cop asked Dizdar for his name. Dizdar told him a fake name and told the officer that Dizdar was not a cop.

You sure know a lot about this guy. If he becomes a suspect you may just become one yourself.

Everything I’ve said was either seen firsthand or reported by the news, lol.

Yeah, that's the narrative I always pushed. I even said that leading up to the trip to Phoenix. I can now attest that hot is hot.... and Phoenix was hot as frick.
I've lived in Phoenix for 6 years now, and every time I hear someone from out of state come here and hike outside at 8:00 AM in the morning in July-October, and try to "downplay" the weather by saying its a "dry heat", I just chuckle

My buddy had a heat stroke on that trail last year and died. I heard from his brother it happens quite a bit on that one.

It was Colonel Dizdar, with a rope, in the library. You people have no Clue?
Posted on 8/7/21 at 4:07 pm to El Mattadorr
Your description of events clears him of murder, but convicts him of being a total piece of shite.

Even if it was heat stroke, she still ended up buried which is odd
