Would do nothing to thwart the flow of drugs in jails/prisons, though.

And IPads do?

We don’t wanna have the conversation on what SHOULD happen if illegal narcotics are discovered in prison either.

I don't get this shite. Why are prisoners being given ways to access people beyond the prison they are in? Do I think prisons need to be more of some form of rehab or do something that will help prisoners become a productive member of society? Yes, but what is the deal with the idea that having access to the internet is a human right?

I assume the prisoners have to pay for the access? I know someone other than the prisoners have something to gain here right?
That prisoners have cell phones and freaking access to iPads with internet is ludicrous and frankly dangerous.

Yep.

You kind of hear bout SQ in songs or media here and there growing up. Bout 20 years ago - hell, who am I kidding? It's been 30 years ago - I discovered where it was located. That's when you realize as gorgeous as Cali is and as great as the vibe can be there, it will always be run by idiots. Zero reason a prison should be located there now. It's old and decrepit and should be torn down.

so we don't believe the convict when he says he didn't do it but do believe him when he says that ok

Of the umpteen ways that drugs are smuggled into prisons, you are saying that spending 189M

I'm not specifically discussing California's policy.

The tablets in my parish print money for the sheriff's office. They're not a net cost.

Don't re-frame what I have already said to attack the strawman you've created.

Are you trying to tell me that prisoners no longer receive regular mail, magazines, newspapers, etc.?

Mail is scanned and sent to the pads

They have access to a libray through the pads. No paper books or magazines.

Yes, as well as act as a source of revenue for the jail/sheriff.

That's probably cheaper on the taxpayers bill than providing dentures to all the homeless crack-meth heads like Dumbass Bass has proposed to do.

It’s not to make it pleasant. It’s to make someone rich, someone else get kick backs let you guess who. They don’t care about anything but how to make money off the prison system.

Why do prisoners get iPads? Prison isn’t supposed to be pleasant.

If they give them something, it should be a ten year old android tablet that is so slow you can measure the response time with a sundial.

Justice impacted individuals?

This isn't the first time I've heard that term. But it always makes me faint.

I am assuming there are some restrictions... And they are not in their cell texting with people, posting on facebook, etc. Even if they are monitored. Look at the tracker people have to wear around their ankle when they are probation. People find ways around those... They know how to take them off and put them back on.. A butter knife and Vaseline.. You give them an inch and they will take 2 miles.

Almost every state prison and all federal prisons have tablets for inmates now. It's been a disaster and will only get worse.
