Car in in transit from the factory.

Though by the time the OP figured out how to buy an airline ticket it will probably be gone.

Bought a 2023 Tacoma from Price LeBlanc less than a month ago. They are one of the few dealerships actually selling at MSRP with no “market fee”. They really can’t keep vehicles on the lot. I got on their website and inquired about one I saw back in October. It was already sold. I contacted a salesman that we’ve bought three previous vehicles from there, and he told me he’d check their upcoming allocation for the package I wanted. I ended up having to wait about five weeks for it to come in, but I got it.

Go to manufacturer's website, search available inventory; find what you want, call about it, don't find what you want and call to see if you can order what you want.

/Timetravel to the present from your 1990's method of approaching a vehicle purchase.

Who the hell just walks on a lot to see what they have these days. Who has that kind of time to blow just to make some salesman's day. I call, if they can't help me, I move on. There's no laws about MSRP's. It's a recommended price, dealerships sell for the the going market price, IE what they can get, don't like it? Move on to the next one.

It will all be extinct in 10 years imo. There's really not a strong reason in this day and age for manufacturers to give such a cut to dealerships. TESLA is showing dealerships are unnecessary, and other brands are exploring the move. System sucks, but if you are just showing up at the lot to see what they have, you are going through alot of unnecessary pain.

I started off genuinely trying to help. But you've proven that you're an inept old geezer (Which is probably why you need a car with navigation since you don't know how Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work) who wants to shake his fist at a cloud.

It's alright. I'm still trying to find out how taking 2 weeks off in 2020 makes vehicle lots empty almost 3 years later.

I guess car production will just be a decade problem.

Went to that dealership in BR and that place was a joke. Had to basically tell the sales people to frick off for them to stop hounding me and let me leave. Ended up getting an Acura MDX Type S. Awesome SUV and Kerry Lockett is one of the best car salesman I’ve met. Shoots you straight and won’t hound you.

dealerships generally have had their best years ever in 2021 and 2022. Any dealer who tells you otherwise is lying

there will never be a return to hundreds of vehicles on the lots if they have any say in it

Im 39.

Im not paying over 50k for a car without navigation. Thats ridiculous. My dog poo Mitsubishi Galant rental last week had navigation. Should be standard in a 50k car.

Now, you better get back out there and make a sale, Mr Car Salesman.

Depends on what you consider "order" to be. Outside of the LFA Lexus has never done factory orders. They batch-produce cars. So when you went in and specced your build the dealer was able to find one in the system either built, being built, or in the factory queue. Lexus, as well as all the other Japanese car companies, limit options so factory orders are not really necessary, in the general retail world it is similar to keeping the number of SKUs low and has advantages in efficiency.

If were defining order a "1 out of 1" type thing, sure, only Euro dealers essentially do this.

My car was fully loaded in the color and interior color I wanted. It was "ordered" via allocation hitting the dock in Cali (where they also do some minor installations). It took 3 months to come in.

Tried to buy a Honda this summer and gave up. Dealers have the upper hand now and I will remember the frickery they tried when the tables turn in the recession.

Bought a truck almost a year ago.

I walked in told the first sales guy I saw what I wanted. He said they would have one in two months. Secured financing through my bank, waited two months, went to pick up truck.

It was pretty easy actually.

Ordered me wife’s phone Infiniti at dealership in Mobile since they didn’t have what she wanted in BR. Also they were giving more for trade in. Delivered the vehicle and drove our old one back. Easy deal

Aren't their laws in most states that prevents manufacturers from selling directly to the public?

It's stupid, and I almost shat myself looking at prices of ford SUV's and trucks.

If you buy a bronco for 40k or more u are a dickjaw, it's a mediocre looking, small, jeepish looking vehicle. Ford steals their designs from other car makers, zero creativity.

My favorite is the interest rate even the credit union is in high 5's to 6%>. Thanks joe

Serious answer.

Leave Baton Rouge to shop for a vehicle.

The rural dealerships are way better to deal with.

I bought a car from Enterprise Rental. Found the one I wanted online, paid cash, drove it home. No hassle purchase.
