A lot of them won't. You just have to say what you want and wait on that "allotment" for your dealer. You can wait months and months...we waited over 6 but we were very specific about interior color/exterior color and trim.
We just picked up an Acura that way. Paid MSRP plus a "mandatory" dealer package (750 for overpriced mats, splash guards, etc).
I felt pretty good about it in light of all the dealer markups these days, but I never thought I'd pay MSRP for a car.

If you can wait about 3 more months there is a big correction coming to the new car market. Already seeing signs of softening in the markets. Expect to ADM gone by January and incentives off sticker plus 0% loans to entice people to buy. Things are about to get desperate for salesmen.
Just pay attention to dealer inventory on the lots. The more there is, the more this will return to normal.

you lose tax credit on the trade value, which can be thousands

Companies like carfax and carvana have made this an easier deal
This is great advice between these two posts. Take your car to carmax and get an offer. It will be more than a different dealer offers as a trade-in and lower than you could sell it for 3rd party.
Do the math and figure out if tax savings on a trade-in is worth more than unloading to carmax or if the hassle of selling yourself is worth it to you. Just be informed before doing anything.
