Honestly, we’ve got more overlap than I expected. On most of the policy stuff you listed, we’re rowing in the same direction.

But here’s the part you seem to be glossing over: a lot of people voted for Trump because they wanted mass deportations and most of those people still want mass deportations. It was never going to be pretty, but needs to get done.

I'm a conservative and I'm an immigration lawyer, it's an enigma for most people to comprehend. It's for sure not something I broadcast to others in the field.

You are totally right, and I'm not glossing over it, I just disagree with mass deportations as a strategy generally and specifically with a lot of the procedural things happening. I don't have a problem that I disagree with other people on the Right on this issue, even if it's a big one. Not needing 100% party purity is why the Right is winning and the Left is falling apart.

That said, I have had numerous Trump supporters call on behalf of friends, family, tenants, and employees who were picked up recently with no criminal history who believed they were voting to get rid of the worse of the worse not people getting randomly pulled over and detained.

Legally speaking the charge of a single improper entry under 8 USC 1325 is rarely charged, highest year in the last 10 years is about 85k cases, and those were mostly people caught at the border. Max sentence is 6 months in jail. SCOTUS has held back to the 1800's that deportation is not a punishment for a crime and is a civil matter (See Immigration law as a whole is administrative. Would be better for everyone if it got moved under federal district courts.

The game changed when the Dems decided to open the floodgates and then charter planes to fly illegals all over the country and ply them with free housing, healthcare and money with the intention of granting them all citizenship for the purpose of stacking the deck in future elections. The consequential effect would be a demolition of the traditional American culture that made us great. These illegal immigrants by and large don’t want to assimilate into our culture and contribute. They want to enforce their own culture and demand handouts from taxpayers. Look at what’s happening in European nations because of mass immigration.

Their parents, the illegal aliens, aren't paying into the tax base that funds these schools. American citizens support those schools. Is it fair that the children of american taxpayers are receiving less resources because those resources are being consumed by the illegal alien children?

Don't argue the emotion (they are innocent children!). Argue the facts. Illegal aliens voraciously enjoy the fruits of the american government. Schools, healthcare, public assistance and they don't pay into the system. That is a problem for me.

That is the act of deportation, but illegally entering and illegally staying are crimes that can also carry civil penalties along with criminal penalties. It’s usually not efficient to criminally convict someone of being here illegally and imprison for several months when you just want to ship back to their country. It can be used as added deterrent especially for repeaters. That doesn’t mean they didn’t break our laws. They are criminally in our country until their deportation.

Going thru the deportation process has fewer protections regardless of what the left states which is in part why Supremes declared it a civil matter. You are just sending them back.

Regardless of what the left and Obama/Biden judges state according to the supremes the courts are also supposed to show deference to the executive and legislative branches with immigration.
quote:

In the late 19th century, the Supreme Court developed the “plenary power” doctrine. This mandates judicial deference to immigration policies devised by the legislative and executive branches.

Since deportation is a civil penalty, fewer protections apply to foreign nationals in removal proceedings than to defendants in criminal trials.

Some variety of taxes, sure. Scope varying wildly across the population though.

I think we have seen wildly varying estimates on both the revenue and expenses.

How confident are you that this is a net positive?

It needs to happen. These idiots blindly buying into the leftist dogma on illegals need to learn that there are consequences for breaking the law.

If you listen to his interview the situation was a shitshow...he was goigg to work security I beleive at the raid site..he said he was getting conflicting info and these dudes were telling him to reverse while other guys were telling him to stop and get out. I give him the benefit if the doubt to some degree as regardless 9f my position on the current deportation efforts...Ive seen some truly clownish amateur hour shite when it comes to coordination tactics of many ICE officers during these raids....especially earlier on this year

Yeah, I think most Americans viewed a certain amount of illegal immigration as a somewhat necessary evil. Then the Dems threw the doors open and fricked themselves in the long run.

Of course he will say that. One of the other citizens arrested along with protesters said he just knocked on the roof of the ICE vehicle to get their attention. Ones in car driving at ICE officers were just innocently driving. Illegals screaming the equivalent of they can’t breathe while getting arrested while being labeled as innocent victims just trying to support their families regardless of what facts come out about them afterwards. The left is pushing political theater.

Most of those coordination issues were and still are coming from violent and obstructive protesters being ignored by the police. The left is making the situation where ICE has to get in and out quickly and also deploy riot control to just to arrest an illegal.

There may be undeniable proof one day that a citizen was just plucked up only for looking Hispanic, but anything involved during these riots/protests is the fault of the rioters along with any sanctuary policies or actions by those respective local authorities. Anyone near the rioters/protesters is either playing a part in it or just incredibly ignorant to drive or stroll up in the middle of that crap. If he really was innocent it’s understandable why he in a car along side protesters and not following instructions fully got arrested. He wouldn’t be the first person arrested along side rioters or violent protesters. It would also be understandable why situation couldn’t be sorted out at the scene with the chaos surrounding them.

Low IQ reply. I'm not even against deportations, but they should be done properly and consistently.
