How do you sue over something you were given for free and chose to live in?

No good deed goes unpunished.
Typical. I'm gonna sue you because the FREE frickING HOUSE I got had issues.
I really wish Hollywood, and the world, would wash its hands of that festering hellscape known as New Orleans.

From what I recall. The houses were poorly designed. The architect didn’t take climate into account and used “green” materials that just don’t perform correctly in the hot wet climate in south Louisiana. If my memory is correct they used a lot of new materials that weren’t even on the market yet at the time. Probably had been used in California where the climate is dry and worked great there.

You mean after you're literally given a home you have to maintain it?

I think its " IMA gets mines."

I’m torn. I don’t think he should have to pay them anything. They were free houses. But I have no sympathy for Hollywood loons.

All makes sense, but Brad Pitt isn't at fault.

Of course the porches will deteriorate/rot if they don't get repainted/sealed in that climate. Same thing for mold getting established is plumbing leaks aren't fixed, etc.
They were falling apart as soon as they moved the people in. Also, if I recall correctly it was rushed and a lot of the houses weren’t 100% complete.

Brad seems like a pretty cool dude
Remember the story of him throwing a beer across the street to a balcony with Brees and McConaughey?

The title is tounge in cheek, trying to convey the ridiculousness of the situation to begin with.

the article wasn't available, but was there a judgment rendered in this case?

If you do zero upkeep to a house for 14 years, what do you expect?
Posted on 10/25/19 at 9:08 am to GEAUXT
I do hope this sets a legal precedent. My laundry room stays warm in the summer because the AC vent is undersized. I'm going to sue the shite out of whoever built the house 20 years ago.

No, I may be wrong but I think this ruling just set the precedent that he can be sued as opposed to just the contractors. They ruled he is personally liable.

Agreed. Brad Pitt is being sued for being naive enough to think a new "green" building could be built and not have issues.
No. He is being sued for being naive enough to think something could be built correctly and without skimming in NOLA

Hey here's a free house
This house sucks I'm suing you
Typical Democrap reaction

Or, to use quotes from actual NOLA residents, “It’s a shame what people give you!”

Which is outrageous. Hopefully this was all done through a certified charitable organization so they can't go after his personal wealth.
