I have to travel that stretch to get to my camp. We refer everything from 12 to the airport as Somalia. Massive crater like pot holes, wanna be ganstas hanging out on the corners, and more twenty fo’s Than you can shake a stick at. It’s getting to be a dawn to dusk no travel zone.

Just like the Washington St exit. Building it was racist and yet, surprise surprise, demolishing it is ALSO racist.

Similar retarded statements have been made about the I-10 in Nola. Evidently the place was a thriving utopia until an elevated highway magically caused an entire area of the city to run down. Just destroy the elevated I-10, they seriously argue, and the crackheads will stop being crackheads and the residents will maintain their properties and everyone will get a job and stop having kids out of wedlock. Bc the fricking racist interstate.

The stretch of US 80 from Meridian, MS to Montgomery, AL runs through very rural, and shall I say heavily Democratic areas, of Alabama. Black groups here are urging for this highway to be upgraded to Interstate status to bring in industry.
While probably makes a point, the highway already is a relatively nice one considering how little traffic rides on it. There are a number of more important roads that need upgrading in this state than US 80.

You could build a 16 lane interstate through that "shite valley" and it would not even attract a Citgo to build on an offramp. Demopolis is the only city that has progressed between Meridian and Montgomery since "Blood Alley" was 4 laned.

I-110 was built through a majority white area of BR during that period. The only black area that it passed through was Scotlandville. The area between memorial stadium and Airline Hwy was white. They moved in on I-110 not I-110 moving in on them.

This is a picture from my brec preschool graduation at Monticello park gymn by delmont Village.

My brec preschool Easter egg hunt Monticello park which we had to walk past I-110 being built.

Look at a picture of you know who graduating from brec preschool in NBR when the state was buying the land to build I-110.

What is missing in these pictures as this is pictures of the children that lived in a neighborhood where I-110 was being built?

No discussion of the record number or murders in 2017 or the higher pace of 2018?

This is ridiculous. You get a room full of black community leaders, the police chief, and the local NAACP leader, and still not one word is said about the murder rate being at an all time high half way through the year.

No one in that community wants to address the elephant in the room.

It was. The first onramp for the interstate for those of us coming in from north of BR was on Hollywood street, early 1970s and prior.

What's the point of this other than a waste of time? What are they going to do, move the entire interstate?

Call Mitch. He can lead the way in teardown and relocation.
