A group of Baton Rouge citizens, community and criminal justice leaders met at the LSU Museum of Art on Friday for the first of a series called "Dialogue on Race and Policing."

quote:

Aimed at improving the relationship between law enforcement and the community, the program is a collaboration between Dialogue on Race Louisiana, a local nonprofit working to eradicate racism, and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, a national non profit working to secure equal justice.

The program brought together Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul, Louisiana's NAACP President Mike McClanahan, local prosecutors, advocates and academics to discuss race and policing. East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux was scheduled to attend but did not make it

quote:

The media were not permitted to attend the dialogue Friday, though Crump said it went well.

Crump said participants discussed how race played a part in the building of Interstate 110 through Baton Rouge and remains a symbol of racism, because it was built through communities of color, dividing neighborhoods

Welp, time to tear it down.

New 1st Problem: Racism compromising the structural integrity of a bridge? What a time to be alive!

Yeah. The interstate is now a symbol of racism. Tear it down. That'll help those communities.

Forget personal responsibility, proper parenting, two parent households, the welfare state, the education system, black on black crime, etc.

frick all that.

Let's spend out time and money and energy on tearing down the monument to racism that is the interstate.

Going beyond all of the nonsense:

And? What’s the point here? The end game? Do they want it moved?

Can’t we throw a few more DUI checkpoints after the Recruiting Bash together to appease Myesha?

Considering I don’t think there has ever been a checkpoint north of Florida.

It’s not bad enough the SBR is funding the entire diversion program through petty arrests for DUI.

They have it as good as they are willing to let it.

They found it. They thought attacking the statues would give them a thing to rally around forever about racism. But the statues came down. So they won. But they can't ever admit they won because winning means they have both political power and substantial representation which means they're no longer necessary because they have to remain victims. So they chose the interstate as the new target. They can complain about and blame all their problems on that forever.

They were. And now, with all the infrastructure that was in place, and left, of a once thriving part of town, is but a dessicated husk, a blighted hellhole riddled with the cancer of dysfunction.

Seriously, when the interstate was built, there was some race issues behind it. It was built straight through the division of the city so this was somewhat of a real issue back in the day.

If I’m not mistaken it was built from the late 50’s into the 60’s so yes it would’ve been a mostly all white working class area

This is why you should never subsidize the breeding of those who refuse to provide for themselves.

Similar arguments being made in Lafayette against the Evangeline Thruway I49 connector

Will “destroy the community and culture” of north Lafayette

Which is already destroyed and shitty
