With the current mayor and her administration, EVERYTHING is now about race. It's sickening. Forcing these "dialogues on race." which probably are more about blaming whites than anything else, aren't helping stop the black on black killings in NBR or slow the flight of white tax paying citizens out of the city.

All I have to say is when it was a white working class area Plank Road and Airline Hwy was booming.
You had Kroger, Woolco, Howard Bros, Mccloud appliances, Robert E Lee theater, Burger Chef, Delmont Village was full with JcPenny’s, a grocery store, little folk toy store, Woolworth’s, and Piccadilly. This is where Tony’s seafood grew from a fruit stand to a seafood market.
They had a baitshop on Airline by Foster Drive that was packed Fri- Sunday from March - August. It was the place for sportsman to get gas, bait, and misc items before going fishing.
When the area was majority middle class people it was booming and you had many different grocery stores operating in the area.
The area turns African American and now it is a ghetto, hookers walking up and down Airline, run down buildings, and lack of grocery stores.
You also have high murder rates which was very rare in that area when it was a middle class area.
Is it the middle class people’s fault or the African Americans that live there fault that changed the culture?

I think I'm a fair amount younger than you based on the pics you posted but I remember Howards and going to Delmont Village often as a kid. Plank Rd was a major epicenter of commerce through the 80s.

Yes, at least according to BR's "community leaders."
Apparently in Baton Rouge, the following are all racist:
-interstates in general
-building interstate on or off ramps in predominately black areas of town
-taking away said on or off ramps in order to improve traffic flow
-tax paying citizens who want an ISD because EBR public schools are terrible
-any white business owner who doesn't want to open his/her business in NBR
-any white business owner who attempts to open his/her business in NBR
-all white law enforcement officers
-any person who supports the St. George incorporation effort
-any person who was in favor of relocating the BR Zoo
And the list goes on and on....
